A quick update

The weather is hot hot hot at the moment, so tatting is ideal because it doesn't involve yarn and warm stuff !!!

Igot the "Tatted animals" book for my birthday on Friday, so I already made a bird and a squirel ! And I'm onto the cat now...

------------------------------

Bunny and black

First, here is a little bunny I made with Be Stitched newsletter pattern from today. It's so cute I had to make it straight away !!!

I also ordered tatting books and stuff from that online shop. It's incredible that this side of thepond the craft is inexistant or so....

Yesterday I dared making a navy blue necklace. And I like it !!!! I loved just creating a pattern and making it in thread....

------------------------------

Work of the week end

First, here is my Father's day gift, a crocheted water bottle holder. My dad seemed very pleased with it. He does model planes flying a lot, which does imply a lot of time standing in fields, and last time he told me how he didn't drink enough... so there you are. He can carry water wherever, even piloting planes !

Of course, I made this about 2 weeks ago, but I couldn't talk about it until now. This week end, I got a cold, again, and this time with fever on Saturday night. Apparently I shouldn't go shopping in hot cold conditions. But sometimes you have no choice. Now I'm just sneezing.

I made a second bracelet, a bit simpler thant he previous one, but I prefer it like that.

And I made a big snowflake from the 24 snowflakes book. It was a bit difficult to make, as the second round has "ring on ring" things and all, but I managed in the end.

I'd like to welcome the new tatters visiting my blog, the Intatters forum is great, and it gives me motivation to tat even more !!!!

------------------------------------------

Let's keep on tatting

Still in the decorative and Christmas spirit, here is a candle holder with tatting on it. You might notice I still have to cut out the threads at the back ;)

And I made more flakes, this time in yellow. Just for the fun of it.

Of course, a bit of sinus pain (thanks to stormy weather) made me miserable yesterday, and being in bed prevented me from seeing the French football team loose ;) Yes, we are in full football/vuvuzela country at home with DBF such a huge football fan. But I can still tat around, no problem.

I also joined the InTatters forum, they seem to be a nice bunch of people, but you know what happens with forums.... soon the internet time grows bigger, and the craft time decreases.... ;)

----------------------------------

Tatting of the week

I've been a bit busy making tatted things, but they are so addictive !

I decided to keep them all in a folder, on red paper, but I don't know what to use to glue them on. They have to be able to come off later on, to be distributed as tree or card decorations, so nothing permanant, and of course nothing turning them yellow !!!

I think I need to keep them flat from the start, because some flakes I found in a drawer from last year or so are so crummy I will have to block them.

But please give me ideas as to how to stick them on the red paper ! For the moment I'm using scotch tape folded in 2, and it's not really nice looking (the ones in the pictures are not stuck yet !)

Now, the big angel and the tatted snowflakes are coming from books, and the cat (do you see it as a cat?) and mini angel are coming from the ever so inspiring Be Stitched website.

For the moment I'm in a bit of a weird position. I feel like I should experiment more, and be more daring with my tatting, maybe create my own stuff, but at the same time I'm a bit paralised, and I just want to keep my hands busy and make loads of flakes. So I might not have much to show if I many of the same ;)

How well....

-----------------------------------

Bah...

Beaded tatting

Just like I said yesterday, I used beads in my tatting projects yesterday.

First, I made a bracelet. I couldn't find a pattern I like, so I just made it up. It's also my first attempt at jewellery making, and I like it. I might try necklaces and more....

And I also made a Christmas tree, from a Be Stitched pattern. I added beads, and changed colour as well !

-------------------------------------

Knit and tat !

Prenote : big tatting pictures at the bottom of the post...

First, a huge happy dance. I finally finished my lacey cotton scarf !!! It took 2 weeks or so to make, and it required a lot of concentration not to make mistakes (I still had to undo some of it, but I didn't have major "do it all over again" catastrophy, so... not too bad).

I'm actually proud of myself. About a month or so I only knew knit and pearl, and I finally went on to more complex things.

Now I think I'm going to do a bit of full time tatting. This week end I mae a snowflake and an angel. Well, the snowflake is big enough to be a small doily, and I'm afraid the flakes for the "24 snowflakes" book will be the same size. So I will concentrate on smaller patterns for actual flakes to put in the tree.

I have to admit all these knitted bears, tatted snowflakes and other pouches are made for the local Christmas market I hope to be part of this year. Yes, I might actually take the plunge and try to sell some of my stuff !

Also, if you are interested in some of the items, just contact me and we could arrange something...

Today I think I will try to use beads in tatting. Sort of "Challenge of the day" ;)

---------------------------------------------------

A quite big update

It's been a while !!! I just don't feel like blogging, but I still make stuff. Check out the pictures at the end of the post.

I'm making another Hello kitty bag, in blue, but it's not finished yet. And I'm also knitting a lacy scarf in cotton, to wear in the summer because in our modern days, we always go from air conditionning places to the warm outside. and it's not good for my throat.

I made a Tweety washcloth, and I'm using it now for showering, it's really nice. And for Mother's day, I made a teacosy I embroided with lazy daisies. My mom was glad to get it, because she drinks a lot of tea, and her teapot is just plain sky blue, so it can do with a bit of colour and flowers. Mom already wants me to make another one !!!

I went back to tatting. And so I'm making snowflakes, it's relaxing to change from knitting to tatting during the day... And I have an alternate motive. We are going to New York in August, and I don't know what I can bring onthe plane as a matter of crafts. So I need your advice. I'm pretty sure my tatting shuttles will be ok, but what about crochet. knitting needles? Cross Stitching?

I guess I still have time to think about it...

---------------------------------------------------
