Another doily and a sunflower

It took a week, but I finished another medium sized doily in tatting. This one is from the book Tatting Fashion. This time it's nearly flat, even without blocking.

And there is a mistake, a missing picot, but it's like a game, trying to find where it is ;)

And here is a little sunflower made with mini Hama beads.

--------------------------------

Festival of Hama beads....

Cross Stitchers should really try these beads : you get plastic instead of fabric, but it's similar and fun !

So I made many little projects. I have to say the Midi beads are making quite big objects, and that's why I had ordered mini beads on Tuesday. I couldn't find any in shops, and ended ordering on the original Hama website.

And yesterday, the postman had a nice little package for me ! On the picture you can see 2 bunnies, with the 2 different sizes of beads. The mini ones are a bit trickier.... I have to practice some more !

In the meantime.... you can look at the pictures of what I've done so far....

------------------------------------

First Hama beads projects

I don't know if you used these Hama or fusable beads as a child, or with your children. I was aware of it because there is a whole community on the web of crafty geeks who make pixellated pictures with them. As a child, I think they haven't been invented yet, otherwise I'm sure I would have had some.

I bought one of the SES Hello Kitty kits, because then you have an Hello Kitty special peg board with the square one. I also bought some more beads, Hama ones this time.

So I started with the Hello Kitty, and I have to say SES beads don't react as well as Hama beads. I ironed quite a long time (about 20 sec), but there were still some weak spots, and I ended ironing the other side too. When I tried the little cup cake with Hama beads this morning, it was all fused in 5 sec !!!

I took time to make my day 3 TIAS tatting though....

---------------------------

Doily finished ! Swan and TIAS 2

Yesterday I finally finished my tatted doily. Of course, it ended up all ruffled ( well.... it was hardly a round, I can tell you !). So a bit of wetting and blocking, and tada !!! A doily looking doily !

I also made a little swan from Jane Eborall's pattern. And I keep on tatting the TIAS, of course....

-----------------------------------

Harvest Moon character charm

At the moment I spend most of my free time playing "Harvest Moon Tales of Two Towns" on my NDS console. I love gadgets and goodies, but Harvest Moon games aren't really popular outside Japan, where people buying the games even get cute Alpaca plushies and stuff as bonus.

So what would a crafter do? Make our own stuff !!!! And so I used the shrinking plastic to make this Harvest Moon character charm. It's so easy :

1 - Find a nice picture on the web.
2 - Print the picture. It has to be big, I used 9 cm wide.
3 - Put the plastic on top of the picture, and as it's trasnparent, you can colour the zones with colouring pencils.
4 - Use a permanent marker to draw the picture (here I used sepia for a softer result)
5 - Cut the picture (including a hole for the ring), 5 min at 175c in the oven, and voilà !

I don't know if I will use it as keyring, charm on my handbag or my console...
You can check out the original picture as it is on the DS screen at the end of the post....

--------------------------

Start of TIAS and Hello Kitty charm

Michelle, I decided to join you in the TIAS. Here is my little tatted piece.

For those who have no clue what this is, here is the deal.

"Tat it and see" is a game from Jane Eborall where she posts a part of a tatting pattern every few days, and we discover what the pattern is little by little.

So obviously the picture doesn't look like anything ;)

I also made a little Hello Kitty charm with shrinking plastic.

I made some stuff as a kid with it, As a test, I drew a 9cm Hello Kitty head (if you want to know everything, it's the picture on a towel my mom gave me for Christmas) on the plastic sheet, and after 8 minutes in the oven, tadaaaa ! it's 3.5 cm !

I will make other things with this, it's so cute....

I still work on my doily, last row, but of course the longest....

---------------------------------------

January depression

Every year, I pack the Christmas stuff after the holidays, and.... do nothing. Actually, it started at Christmas this year, and the second week of the holidays I didn't make anything. Not motivated for anything. I see all those people posting about their new year resolutions, and I have.... nothing. Well, I will make stuff to sell at the Christmas fairs as I have 3 this year, but that's all.

I did manage to make this little tatted cat. It was actually a challenge, as it's made with blocks. I didn't think it would turn out that good. Now I'm making a doily, it's a time out of occasions, so it's nice to tackle bigger projects....

--------------------------------------
