Bluey the leafy bun

Let me present Bluey the leafy bun. Of course he's the first of his family... He needs more friends !!! And you can adopt him from my shop. You will find more pictures over there...

This is my concept. bunnies with a leaf on the belly. Why? I love bunnies.

Please go and read the second post down, I need your input on my shop.

Chiloe, my shop is on Dawanda because for the moment there is no listing fees, while Etsy asks for 20p for each item listed. Some people seem to sell fine on Dawanda, so I don't know if locations is really important. I guess it's more about promotion wherever.

Ginny, I know it's not easy to comment, I'm the worse commenter ever ! I do read your blog and think about you and your DH, hoping for the best.

Zohrah, the cat is indeed for you....

---------------------------------------

Adopt me !

My baby dragon is looking for a new home... click here if you want to adopt it !!!

--------------------

Crosses done ! And important questions...

It's all in the title, the crosses are done, on to the half stitches... It's hard no to turn those into crosses though. And so far... it's hard to see my half stitches, as they are the same colour of one of the blended purples, and close to those crosses !!!

Yesterday I had a look at my stats, and th results are quite dramatic. Few comments is one thing, but no visitors? What happened? One thing that is difficult to estimate is the number of people reading posts from Bloglines and other rss readers. If people are using these, they are reading posts everyday, but it doesn't appear in blog visits. Does anybody know if it's possible to check those? Any service?

I'm thinking about selling stuff again. I like making amigurumis, but I can't keep them all. Remember I opened a Dawanda shop last year?

I managed to sell nothing. How are people selling so much on Etsy? I need pointers.

I feel I'm proposing the same thing, so it should work, but maybe people don't even know I exist? Or should I sell something else? Would you pay to have my freebies (just an exemple) or a crochet pattern?

I don't want to put too much effort in this and once again, sell nothing ;) Or maybe make things on demand?

------------------------------------------------------------------

First week end really looking like Spring... But that doesn't prevent us from stitching, right?

"Pretty in Pink" from Brightneedle was started and finished in less than 24h. It was mostly done on Saturday afternoon. Lili's theory that I would not want to stitch the birds didn't matter here. It was too fast a stitch ;)

But I have to say I don't really like this design for some reason. I used colours I like, ok, but I feel the girls heads are too weird, especially the middle one, which is so faint we can't really see her. I tried using darker colours and all, but... no. I guess I just don't like sampler/naive kind of designs these days.

You might have noticed that instead of stitching the original design, which is square, I made a rectangle so that it would fit a pouch. So I used different motifs from the pinkeep and the fob to populate the empty space.

Of course, once I was finished, I went back to the birds, stitching mostly greens this time, and I also started a certain amigurumi cat for a certain somebody.

You might have noticed that I changed the picture of the title of the blog, after all, snow isn't the season anymore !!!!

----------------------------------------------------------

A bit of darker side...

Well, a bit of purple and black now... Aquasize and a bit of tiredness make me a slow stitcher... And I feel my interest in the project fall a bit. Well, it's ok in the morning, but in the evening... I have the hardest time concentrating on crafts. And the paradox is that evenings are the time I have more time for crafting !!!!

So I "kitted" "Pretty in pink" from Brightneedle. The idea is to use it for a pouch. But in its 80x80 stitches form, it would be too big, so I will have to leave out the baskets and flowers. I had to choose my own colours too, because the Anchor->DMC conversion I have doesn't fit that pattern, and there is no way to replace the overdyed threads. So it will end up as a surprise.

The question of the week is about blending and how we manage them. This question is critical for me at the moment, as the purple is blue/purple on the picture. The way I do it is that I try to stitch most of the blended colour in one go, and keep the leftover on a sorting cardboard, with the symbol of the colour on it. Of course the cut threads of the kit make it easy to get the same lengh of threads, etc...

Lili, I have a Clover cutter too, I never use it, too much sheering... From the list Ash sent of items allowed in a plane, apparently 4inches blades sharp scissors are you usual size medium scissors. I have to say I was very surprised to see that. Now you can bring sharps, but no gel or liquid.... It's a mad world...

Ash, I've been to the US a few times, from coast to coast... I think I've visited most of it, cities, National Parks, small towns... Besides, I think New York is one of the most "european" american cities. I guess if I can survive Oxford street (London) on a Saturday afternoon, I can survive New York, crowd wise ;)

I'm not really keen on reenacting "The Wizard of Oz", especially since my worst fear is probably strong winds ;)

Zohrah, what about a purple cat? What would I get for it? ;)

------------------------------------------------------------

More white and yellow

I know... I stitched the rest of the white flowers, and the yellow hearts. It's not much. What I like most about this design is that it's like a painting with needle, and there's a sense of peace stitching it.

Lutine, I'm not a fan of huge projects, I loose patience (I started Cinderella.... ages ago) and I feel all I can do with the finished piece is framing. Not fun ;)

Lili: what shopping list?

Ash, thanks for the links. Apparently, not only can I stitch in the plane, but I can even bring my small embroidery scissors !!!! There are some fun items on the list... "Toy transformer robot"???? But no mention of needles... other than knitting and crochet ones. Now we see Americans interests....

And don't worry, I'm not exactly a country girl, I faced crowds, like in London and such, and it won't be my first time in New York either !!!

Zohrah: what colour for the cat?

Chiloe: turning the plane to Florida isn't a bad idea, but DBF won't be too happy, his mind is set on New York, as if the rest of the US isn't worth seeing (his opinion, not mine).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lili: quelle shopping list?

Finally some stitching

I stitched most of the middle chickadee last week, but I stitched the rest yesterday evening, so you can see it's a quick stitch ! I love Dimension's 3 colours charts. Really clear to read.

I decided to stitch crosses first, then half stitches, otherwise it might be a bit confusing as I tend to stitch crosses by rows of half stitches back and forth... ;)

Now, something really funny is happening on this blog. Come on, be honnest : most of you don't care about amigurumis, right? It's just that comments on crochet posts are sparse, but people comment on my Sarah Kay finnish even a week after I posted it !!!

I have to admit I don't know what I will do of Sarah Kay... I don't feel like framing her... but I don't want to make "yet another bag". And talking about bags, I tested the Curly bag on travel, and it's really nice. Just the handles are a bit too big, but I can shorten them. I should also make a little tie thing at the bottom of the bag to tie it to the suitcase. More later. I made that bag so big it can also be used as a shopping bag. Amazing.

DBF has decided we should go to New York for a week in August, and of course I will follow !!!! But as a crafter, questions come to mind:
- What can you bring in the plane nowadays? No stitching I guess, but what about crochet hooks? Minimal size?
- Where are the needlecraft shops in Manhattan?
- Any practical advice?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Super facile a lire.

- D'auters conseils?

Floralie dans son jardin

I'm back to England, and as usual, I'm not feeling my best. Well, I even have a headache I can't get rid of...

But I made little Floralie here. It's my own pattern. Lili, remeber I started a bunny on Friday while you were there? I left that white thread at DBF's, so I started over.

Floralie is 12cm high with the ears, made out of yarn and a size 4 hook. Her face is embroided with 2 strands of grey DMC, and I made felt flower and leaf.

A bit of blush on the face, and tadaaa !

-------------------------------------------

Cathy the little elf

6cm, in perle cotton 8, hook 1mm.... Yet another very small character !!!
This little elf is from a wonderful book called "Fees, lutins, elfes au crochet". I just want to make them all !!!

Being a French book, I had to order from Amazon.fr, and dispatch to DBF's, but luckily I was there this week....

--------------------------------------

Sarah Kay finished !

And she's finished ! Well, I had the backstitching done Tuesday night, but I had to show Choupinette first...

Now I'm making more amigurumis, and I'm stitching "Chickadees in Spring", a Dimension kit full of blending and half stitches, so following the chart is a challenge in itself.

------------------------------------------

Tuesday 15 April 2008

A little doll...

Choupinette is only 6cm high... but full of details !

First you can see her naked (but she still has underwear, socks and shoes), then dressed. She was made from my own patter in perle cotton 8 and hook 1mm.

She took longer to make than expected, so I didn't go far in my backstitch.

-----------------------------------

Monday 14 April 2008

A stitching update....

All the crosses and half stitches are done, now... on to the back stitching, and I suppose you will agree it is much needed in this design !!!

I'm on holidays, and I'm relaxed... the weather isn't so bad, so, there you go !

___________________

Saturday 12 April 2008

In the tree...

I had a bit more fun with my hooks in the past day... making little owls.
I installed my little family in the tree, so you can appreciate the size difference.

I started with a mini one, it's only 1cm, in perle 8, hook 1mm. Then I added a bit of blush.

I was preparing my stuff to take on holidays (Thank you for World of CrossStitching for that multi-compartments purple box they gave us a while ago!), and I thought I could decorate Lapinette a bit with a button, and some blush.

And in the evening, being so tired, I made some owls in yarn, hook 4mm. Easy and quick.

Zohrah, I'm glad to see you are back... I might make the cat again, but I was thinking of trying a miniature one.
But if you really want me to make you one... let's talk by email.
My plan right now is to experiment and make my own patterns.

Now is nearly time to go and travel... the weather is good, the sore throat is coming in and out... But it should be good to travel with DBF...

---------------------------------------------------------

Friday 11 April 2008

Lapinette is born...

Well... I'm on holiday since yesterday, and enjoying every minute of it... It's so nice to be relaxed and carefree... The sore throat tries to come back, but who cares?

Here is Lapinette, my latest amigurumi. Because I'm travelling on Saturday, I want something I can travel with, so yarn and size 4 hook isn't really an option.

Here she is made from perle cotton 8 and a size 1 hook. Why? Because I have bobbins of that stuff, and Hobbycraft was able to complete my collection of colours.

She is about 5cm high, and it's not easy to work with such small dimensions ! But it was worth it...

----------------------------------------

Wednesday 9 April 2008

Totoro Amigurumi

After 3 days work, here is a little white Totoro, made in white thread and a 1.25mm hook. The model is huge, so mine is about 10cm...

-----------------------------------------

Tuesday 8 April 2008

Stitching update

Sarah Kay just needs shoes now... and then the whole half stitches background, and backstitching of course.

It's April, but we still had snow on Sunday (and a bit on Monday morning). DBF thought I was joking when I told him it was snowing at 7am, but no no no... look at the picture, taken at 10am ! Obviously, being England, the snow was mostly gone by 1pm...
-----------------------------------------------

Monday 7 April 2008

Little dragon

France is caught by the Amigurumi bug... and I decided to be part of it ! So I made this little dragon from this pattern. I was thinking about making it for quite some time, but was a bit put off by the difficulty. Well, it's not that difficult, it's mostly time consuming, all the different pieces to crochet (about 4h?) and then the sewing (1h30).

My health is better, no more weeping eye, and I just caugh a little bit. I stitched on Sarah Kay too, the crosses are nearly complete... As I play with my PSP a lot at the moment, and DBF is there... crafting is a bit slow. But holidays are coming soon, so... who knows?

--------------------------

Thursday 3 April 2008

Girls in gardens

Somehow, my throat still hurts a bit... but my eye seems to be weeping less. I still wonder what's in me...

On Good Friday, I started "garden Girl" from CCN. I only managed 18 crosses on that day, being sick and all.

It was the logical choice to stitch after the secret project none of you went to see btw. But I don't really like the design at the moment, nor working on linen, so I dug up an UFO, this Sarah Kay design from Cross Stitch Crazy a long time ago. So that's my project at the moment.

---------------------------------
