Mini mouse project finished !

As I was saying before... I started this little guy straight away ! Because of the threads from the kit, it's weirdly yellow and brown, but it's still ok... The picture doesn't show how contrasted the colours are.

I think now I will start the Tinkerbell, if I can find the right fabric...

Comme j'ai commencé ce kit tout de suite, il est déjà fini ! Les couleurs sont bizarres, ce sont celles données dans le kit, et encore, la photo ne montre pas tout le contraste !!!

Maintenant je crois que je vais m'attaquer à Clochette, si je trouve une bonne toile pour...

Lots of blabbing : the mags arrived !!!

Yesterday, I finally got my two CrossStitcher magazines I ordered from
Future. No wonder it took 3 weeks, they were wrapped in a plastic bag
coming from Germany !!!

Needless to say I was super happy. I was glad to have the little kit
with Margaret Sherry's mouse (even if apparently it's still weird
coloured Chinese threads, and not DMC or Anchor) and I started it
straight away. I have a bit of difficulty with the pattern, I don't
remember the patterns being so small, but I manage. I think I'm
getting old… ;)

The other magazine is the one with Tinkerbell earlier this year.

Of course, I'm a victim of Murphy's law once more. Until last year or
so, I subscribed to the magazine, and I even stopped the subscription
because I didn't like each issue. And now that I'm in Belgium, with no
way to just go and grab the mag in the shop, they replaced Norman's
page by…. Margaret Sherry. And not only there are frequent patterns
from her, there is also 2 mini patterns in each issue. Let's just say
I'm not a happy puppy, and I just hope that once the CrossStitcher
blog finished publishing the ABC, they will publish the other mini
patterns.

In the meanwhile, if someone would be kind enough to tell me when
these features started, and what the patterns are, I would be able to
see if I missed much of it, and if it's worthwhile buying them.

And, Murphy's law number two, the patterns I want to stitch, Margaret
Sherry's mice and the Tinkerbell, only have Anchor threads listed. Not
that I can't get Anchor threads, but I'd rather remain in the DMC
range, as I have a near full collection, and 2 collections of threads
would be too confusing (and a bit useless). Let's thank the internet
for the lovely Anchor/DMC conversions ;)

Anyway, the plan is to stitch the little mouse as a card, and the
featured 3 mice as an horizontal thing. I have to admit mama Christmas
isn't really inspiring at the moment. Not only Christmas seems so far,
but the pattern is all in colour patches and it's no fun to stitch ;)

You will be glad to know grandma is ok and will have exams just in
case. I gave her an amigurumi bunny on Saturday, and told her I've put
a mini camera in it to check if she's resting or not ;) She was over
the moon and keeps saying the bunny is a big part of her recovery. So
we are all ok for the moment ;)

Hier j'ai enfin reçu mes deux CrossStitcher de la part de Future. Pas
étonnant que cela ait pris 3 semaines, ils étaient emballés dans des
plastiques en provenance d'Allemagne !!! Donc un petit détour…

Evidemment, j'étais super contente d'avoir enfin les petites souris
Margaret Sherry, et j'ai commencé le kit tout de suite. Ils donnent
encore des fils chinois avec ces couleurs si peu naturelles. Et je ne
me souviens pas des grilles ayant été si petites ? je vieillis peut
être…

Sinon, la loi de Murphy me touche de plein fouet. Il y a plus d'un an,
j'étais abonnée au magazine, et j'ai arrêté l'abonnement car tous les
numéros n'étaient pas top. Et me voilà en Belgique, incapable
d'acheter le mag en kiosque, et voilà qu'ils remplacent la page de
blabla de Norman par… Margaret Sherry. Et chaque numéro a au moins 2
petits patterns. Parlons d'un manque de pot !!!

Donc, si quelqu'un est assez gentil pour me dire quand ce changement
s'est effectué, et quels patterns ont été faits, ce serait super !

Autre coup de la loi de Murphy, les trucs que je veux broder, les
petites souris et la fée Clochette, sont toutes en Anchor !!! Bon,
j'ai accès aux fils Anchor, mais je préfère DMC ? dont j'ai la
collection quasi complète, et je ne suis pas prête à recommencer avec
une autre marque. Louons l'internet et les conversions de fils !!!

Donc le plan est de broder la carte avec la petite souris, puis les
autres souris en tryptique horizontal. Mama Christmas est pas si top à
broder, parce que Noël est encore trop loin, et le pattern a trop de
petits morceaux pas drôle à faire.

Sur le plan grand-mère, elle semble avoir récupéré, et son docteur lui
fait faire la batterie d'examens au cas où. Samedi je lui avais donné
un petit lapin amigurumi, et je lui ai dit que j'avais mis une mini
camera pour vérifier qu'elle n'en fasse pas trop, et elle n'arrête pas
de dire que le lapin l'a guérie en grande partie. Et donc pour
l'instant on va tous bien ;)

Stitching fairy finished !!!

I wanted to finish it yesterday, and the mission is completed ! My grandma had problems and fainted a few times because of low pressure (she took the wrong meds together), so we did a bit of "granny sitting" yesterday afternoon and evening, and this time I took my stitching with me.

Of course grandma is all ok now, we had to stay just in case (she's living alone and has a tendancy to think she's much younger than she is...)

I really enjoyed stitching this project, and the big challenge was all that silver metallic stitching. But I used one thread of metallic and one of cotton, and it was ok. I have to say the new DMC metallics are a lot stronger than before... that's also an advantage.

I didn't do the french knots on the yellow of the clothes because I don't like polka dots, and the project is "busy" enough !

Because I don't feel like starting a new project, and I'm still in a Joan Elliott period, so I'm going to work on Mama Christmas next.

Je voulais finir la stitching fairy hier, et c'est mission accomplie ! Même si on a du faire du "grandmère sitting" hier, car elle a fait des malaises (chute de tension pour cause de mauvais mix de médicaments), mais j'avais pris de quoi broder. Elle va bien maintenant, il fallait juste la surveiller car elle a tendance à croire qu'elle a 20ans, et comme elle vit seule...

Donc, la stitching fairy... j'ai beaucoup aimé la broder, le plus difficile était tout l'argenté à faire, mais grâce aux nouveaux fils DMC plus solides et le fait de mélanger métallique et coton, ca a été.

Je n'ai ps fait les pois sur la robe car je n'aime pas ça,e t cela ferait trop chargé.

Et maintenant je reprends Mama Christmas car je n'ai pas envie de commencer quelque chose, et je suis toujours à fond dans Joan Elliott !

A bit of update

I know, blogging has been very sporadic, but I spend the free time I
have in a backstitching marathon on the stitching fairy. I finished
the crosses on Monday, and we know all too well that such a
backstitches heavy project can take another week or so just to sew
those black lines. Oh, and I forgot the beads, but that should be fun
at the end of it.

So you will have a pic soon.

I ordered 2 UK Crossstitcher mags 2 weeks ago, and I still don't have
them. Does any of you have ordered those magazines from the editor
directly yet? Because they give a 28 days time frame, but it seems
very weird… What are they waiting for? It's frustrating…

The good thing is that I'm the mood of finishing projects I left for a
while, so it might me the time to progress on UFOs…

Je sais, je ne poste pas souvent, mais je préfère garder mon temps
libre pour broder. Après avoir fini les croix lundi sur la stitching
fairy, j'ai commencé les points arrières, et on sait que sur un tel
projet ça peut prendre une semaine ou deux. Sans compter les perles,
qui par contre seront une joie à faire.

Donc, photo prochainement.

J'ai commandé 2 magazines CrossStitcher il y a 15 jours, et je ne les
ai toujours pas. Je sais qu'ils donnent 28 jours comme période, mais
ça semble bizarre, qu'attendent-ils ? Avez-vous déjà commandé ces
magazines auprès de l'éditeur ? Est-ce normal cette attente ?

Sinon, la bonne nouvelle est que je suis d'humeur à finir mes vieux
projets abandonnés, je devrais pouvoir progresser sur les UFOs…

Sunday update

Yesterday something rare happened: a day where all I did was stitching, except for a trip into town. And it was so good !!! So I hope you can see the progress on this picture ;)

Nath, I think you confuse this stitching fairy with the stitching angel I finished last year. Nearly same position but in reverse, mostly pink and blue... And I didn't work on this project for a long time, so I guess we could think it was finished ;)

Annelize, thank you very much for your offer, but I don't think I would want to stitch that new Somebunny in CS Crazy. I's a weird individual,I'm not normally an Somebunny fan, but this particular one was so cute I had to stitch it.

I hope I get another stitching day today...

Hier il s'est passé quelque chose de rare : un jour entier de broderie, à part une petite virée en ville. J'espère que le progrès se voit sur la photo !!!

Nath, je crois que tu confonds cette stitching fairy avec la stitching angel que j'ai finie l'an dernier et qui est très similaire, même position mais à l'envers, et dominante rose et bleu.
Et comme ca fait mongtemps que je n'ai plus brodé sur ce projet, je suppose qu'on pouvait penser qu'il était terminé.

J'espère avoir un autre jour plein de broderie aujourd'hui...

The stitching fairy is back !

Thank you all for the comments ! I have an idea for the bunny: I have a round crocheted purse I use to put my night stuff when I travel, but it's a bit plain... So it could do with a little bunny on it !

Now, the fairy... Why ressusitate this project? It's a long process...

Originally I wanted to stitch something DMC style, with loads of backstitch. So I took a flower fairy I started ages ago. But all the different creams, and the non coloured pattern weren't that fun. Then I wanted to start one of Joan Elliott's ladies. And while looking for the patterns I found this fairy in my stuff...

So there you go: coloured pattern and loads of backstitching ! Unfortunatly it's also loads of colour changes, but... I will manage ;)

Merci pour tous vos commentaires !!! J'ai une idée pour mon lapin: j'ai une trousse ronde en crochet que je trimballe partout quand je voyage, où je mets mes affaires de nuit. Le lapin serait parfait la dessus !

Maintenant, le projet actuel a sa propre petite histoire... pourquoi ressuciter justement celui-là?

Au départ, je voulais un projet avec beaucoup de backstitch. Donc j'ai repris un vieux Flower fairy en cours, mais comme la grille n'est pas en couleur, c'était bof. Et en regardant la Renaissance Lady sur le mur, j'ai eu envie de faire une des dames de Joan Elliott. Et c'est en cherchant les grilles que je suis tombée sur la fée brodeuse, que j'avais un peu oubliée !

Donc elle était toute désignée: plein de backstitch, grille en couleur, et bon, un peu trop de changements de couleur à mon gout, mais bon... on fera avec !!!

A stitched finish? impossible...

Well, the backstitching took only a little time, and so... Somebunny is finnished ! No idea what I will turn it into, but... I love it !!!

Je ne sais pas ce que je vais en faire, mais j'adore ce modèle !!!

What to do in the hot weather?

Hot, very hot weather struck us and left us in a sweaty lethargy... We are not used to that in Belgium, which has a reputation for rain and grey clouds !!! ;)

So I'm not really motivated to created yarn creatures at the moment (yarn!!!), but I got bitten by the stitching bug (and mosquitos, but that's another story), and I'm progressing on the bunny. Just the butterflies left before the long backstitching. And after so long without stitching I'm looking forward to that "drawing in thread" !

Of course, sandugurumis should come back shortly, as DBF is here to motivate me ! I'm on Etsy for one month now, and I sold all my patterns but the Christmas boy (who wants winter in this hot weather?), some several times, so I'm glad of the achievement, it was quicker than expected ! Some people say it's a slow period for Etsy, and there is something wrong with the google referencing, but I've enjoyed the experience so far.

Now I'm home for the week end, which is rare, so I'm enjoying the fresh air of early morning, and DBF thinks I'm a bit mad I guess...

Il fait si chaud ici, dans cette Belgique à la réputation de pluie et de grisaille, que l'idée même de manipuler de la laine donne chaud ! Alors forcément, mes petits bonshommes sont au point mort.

Par contre j'ai été mordue par la broderie (et les moustiques, mais c'est autre chose), et le lapin progresse. Plus que les papillons et je m'attaque au "dessin au fil". Et ca fait tellement longtemps que je ne l'ai plus fait que j'ai hate en fait.

Sinon, il est évident que mes sandougurumis vont revenir en force, surtout que DBF est là pour me motiver ! Je dois dire que après un mois sur Etsy, j'ai vendu tous mes modèles (sauf celui de Noel, mais il y a une logique la dedans par cette canicule ;), bien plus vite que je ne le pensais ! certains disent que c'est une période creuse (forcément, loin des fêtes !), et qu'il y a des problèmes entre Etsy et le référencement Google, mais j'apprécie cette expérience.

Pour une fois je suis à la maison pour le week end, et je profite de la fraicheur du matin, même si DBF me dit que je vais m'écrouler l'après midi, pas grave...
