Day - 1

The stress is going up and up..... Today I finished the last bits and packed most of it. But as I don't have any idea as to what will happen this week end, I live in a state of forced wait and stress.

I have a full suitcase plus a bag, and a document holder for the paper stuff, like the cardboard signage and stickers, flyers....

I tatted this star, and turned it into a ball decoration. This time I hammered needles in the extremities into the ball.

Le stress monte et monte.... Aujourd'hui j'ai réussi à tout finir et empaqueter. J'ai une valise pleine, un sac, et un cartable pour les papiers, stickers, et pancartes en tout genre. En ce moment je suis en état d'attente forcé, et forcément, je stresse....


J'ai fait cette étoile en frivolité, et je l'ai mise sur une boule de sapin. Cette fois-ci j'ai martelé des épingles dans les extrémités.

Christmas faire D-3

It feels like snowflakes are just appearing from my fingers.... So on one hand I don't take time to post, and on the other hand posts are packed with pictures. I've been a bit unwell, neck and head pains, the kind that leave you unable to even think. I just hope that I will feel ok next week end, because it's finally Craft fair time !!!

I read in many places that a craft apron is better than a cash box. I usually wear skirts with no pockets, so I thought this was a neat idea to keep my stuff close. First I tried to buy a regular apron. But, believe it or not, I couldn't find any in shops !!! I'm sure that in a week time I will see many and will think "finally !!!!", but it will be too late !!!

So it was sewing time ! With my sewing machine still at grandma's, I did it all by hand. I ended up with sore fingers (it's quite thick fabrics), but I think I didn't take much more time to make it. It made me think of seamstresses from a long time ago, who had to sew shirts and clothes all by hand....

Anyway, DBF doesn't understand why I made such a colourful apron (hu? blue and grey????) but I like how it turned out.

I received my order from Be Stitched. I used the Black friday discount, it paid the postage ! Only one week from the US to France, that's good service !

So I now have Clover shuttles, and I was glad to have the green and orange ones, not the pink and blue. I also had Lizbeth thread (everybody says this is the best, I had to try) and tatting books.

I finally made the Christmas tree earings, with seed beads. It's hard to get 2 the same ! And I made flakes.... They will end up as pendants. Like real snowflakes, they are all slightly different !

J'ai un peu l'impression que les flocons apparaissent de mes doigts !!! Du coup, je ne prends pas le temps de poster, et forcément, les posts ont plein de photos !!!


Le marché de Noel approche, et j'ai lu sur pas mal de site qu'il est préférable d'avoir un tablier qu'une boite à sous. Du coup, j'ai cherché dans le commerce, mais étonnamment, je n'en ai vu nulle part ! Evidemment, ça veut dire que dans une semaine j'en verrai partout, mais en attendant, j'ai décidé d'en coudre un. Avec ma machine à coudre toujours chez ma grand mère, j'ai du utiliser mes petits doigts. Ca n'a pas pris plus longtemps je pense, et j'ai juste eu un peu mal aux doigts à cause de l'épaisseur du tissu.


Même si DBF pense que c'est bariolé, je ne trouve pas. Pour moi qui porte des jupes sans poche, c'est un tablier pratique !


J'ai reçu ma commande de Be Stitched, et donc j'ai enfin mes navettes Clover. J'ai profité de la promo de Black friday, et une semaine seulement pour arriver des USA, c'est top je trouve.


J'ai enfin fait mes petits arbres pour boucles d'oreille, mais c'est dur d'avoir 2 éléments les mêmes ! Et puis bien sur les flocons, qui eux sont tous différents, comme la vraie neige !

More tatting

I'm in full tatting mode. I made a snowman (could be finished as a card), more snowflakes, a bookmark, and my very first earings and pendants.

Only 2 weeks until the Christmas fair, and I feel like I have still much to do, and nothing more to do at the same time ! I get not so plaisant dreams about it, and I'm still trying to think how I will set everything up !!! So I'm on edge, so I compulsively tat, and that makes more and more snowflakes !

I modified my blog a bit. I had to change my blogspot template for a newer one anyway, as my old personal one didn't accept all the new improvements like the links to facebook and twitter on the posts. And of course now it's a winter theme. Which is fitting as we decorated for Christmas yesterday already. It might be a bit already, but as DBF was full of courage for once... No need to delay !!!!

Je suis en plein mode frivolité. Le marché de Noel approche à grands pas (dans 15 jours, eeek !), je deviens stressée au point de faire des rêves pas très plaisants, et donc je fait plein de flocons et autres trucs compulsivement avec mes navettes !!!


J'ai aussi changé le look de mon blog. Le modèle que j'utilisais était tellement vieux qu'il n'acceptait pas les nouveautés de blogspot, et donc nous voici en plein hiver. Ce qui va bien avec l'ambiance d'ici, vu qu'on a déjà décoré pour Noel, pour une fois que DBF était plein de courage, il fallait en profiter !!!

My first business card and tatting for Christmas !

Still working towards the Christmas fair (10 and 11 dec 2011). Here is my very first business card to distribute at the fair. I decided to try an online business card website instead of making my own. After all, the cost of toner would be more expensive than ordering the cards !!!

Obviously they are in French. DBF told me to add "Et le monde devient plus doux" ("and the world becomes softer"), just as a motto, because I sell things in yarn, thread, and often stuffed !!!

Preparing for the Christmas fair is quite a big affair. I had to make an inventory of all the stuff for sale, do the presentation and packaging of the tatted things.... But I still tatted angels, trees, snowflakes.... See the pictures below !

Toujours dans l'esprit du marché de Noël (10 et 11 decembre 2011), j'ai commandé mes premières cartes de visite. Au départ je voulais les faire moi-même, mais avec une imprimante jet d'encre, le résultat risquait de ne pas être fameux, et le coût des cartouches d'encre serait plus important que de commander sur un site !!!!


C'est DBF qui a insisté pour rajouter le slogan "Et le monde devient plus doux", car je vends des trucs en laine, fil, et souvent rembourré !!!!


La préparation du marché n'est pas une mince affaire, entre les emballages des frivolités, l'inventaire et tout ça, mais j'ai quand même fait quelques trucs avec mes navettes....

Tatted flakes in packs

I worked on the presentation of my tatted snowflakes for the Christmas craft fair. After cleaning in water, blocking with pins, stiffening with PVA diluted glue, drying of course, I stapled the snowflakes onto cards with a label saying "AngelSan Creation, Etoile de neige, dentelle en frivolité, 100% coton, http://angelsan.free.fr". (Snow star, lace in tatting).

I will have some in the wire tree, but I can't display all of them, it would look too cluttered. I will put the bags in a box so people can persuse at will, without any risk of damaging the precious lace with their sticky hands ;)

What do you think? How do you display and sell your tatting at craft fairs?

I still have quite a lot of angels, trees, snowflakes and such to process, this is just the first batch.

J'ai travaillé la présentation de mes flocons de neige en frivolité. Après le lavage à l'eau, le blocage avec des épingles, le durcissage à la colle diluée et le séchage, je les ai agrafés sur une carte avec une étiquette disant "AngelSan Creation, Etoile de neige, dentelle en frivolité, 100% coton, http://angelsan.free.fr".


J'aurai quelques flocons sur l'arbre en métal, mais les autres seront dans ces sachets, dans une boite afin de laisser les gens fouiner à leur aise sans risque d'endommager la précieuse dentelle  avec leurs petites mains pas toujours propres ;)


Qu'en pensez-vous? Comment présentez-vous votre frivolité aux marchés de Noel?


Je dois encore faire la même chose avec pas mal d'anges, sapins et autres flocons....

Progress of the day

I made yet another candle holder with a tatting edging. This one is "Curds and whey" from the book "Tatting with visual patterns". Many tatters seem to like that book, so I had to see it for myself. I like this edging. With just one shuttle and simple pattern, the result looks so sophisticated !!!!

I also bought a metal Christmas tree to display some of my things for the Christmas fair. Here it's mostly tatting. DBF thinks we should use this tree as Christmas tree this year. It's a bit small for that purpose, but maybe it's a good idea... we'll see....

J'ai fait un autre photophore en frivolité. Cette fois-ci la bordure vient du livre "Tatting with visual patterns" qui est plébiscité par pas mal de frivoleurs. Et ils ont raison, car avec simplement une navette et un modèle simple, on a un truc assez sophistiqué.


J'ai aussi acheté cet arbre en métal à Carrefour pour mettre mes trucs dessus pour le marché de Noel, et voilà que DBF trouve qu'on devrait s'en servir comme unique sapin de Noel cette année. Il est un peu petit, mais bon, pourquoi pas....

Preparing for Christmas

I'm quite productive at the moment, but I fail to post the items, as usual. I want to direst you to my Craft gallery in Picasa. There you will find the pictures full size, with technical details and sources of pattern.

I made some candle holders with tatted edgings. By request from Michelle, I took a picture of them with candles in. Actually they are fake tea lights ! I think I will have to glue some of the lace.

J'ai été assez productive ces derniers temps, mais évidemment j'en oublie de poster sur ce blog ! Notez que vous pouvez retrouver toutes les photos, grandeur nature et avec tous les détails techniques ou de modèle dans ma galerie Picasa.


Pour commencer, voici les photophores en frivolité que j'ai fait. Je vais devoir en coller certains, car ça glisser ! J'ai aussi pris une photo en situation, avec des lampes/bougies éléctriques.

As Christmas is approaching, I was able to buy some balls. So I tried to tat a ball decoration. I think I'll have to glue that too. What do you think? Have you tatted some of those ball already? How do you finish them?

Comme Noel approche, j'ai pu acheter des boules de Noel, et donc essayer de les décorer avec de la frivolité. Cette fois encore je pense que je vais devoir coller....

And here are a few other tatted things, and a knitted tree. I tested using diluted PVA glue to stiffen snowflakes and tatted motifs, and it seem to work so far. I also try to design a mini tatted tree, the first one is a bit small I think. Next I will try with red beads.

Enfin voici d'autres bidules en frivolité, et un mini sapin en tricot. J'ai essayé de durcir les étoiles de Noel et autres décos avec de la colle PVA diluée, et jusqu'à présent cela parait marcher pas mal. Je tente de créer un mini sapin en frivolité, mais je pense que celui-ci est un petit peu trop petit. Le suivant aura des perles rouges.

Tatted candle holder again

Here is a tatted edging a bit more elaborate. Now I wonder how I could get it to hold on the glass. I think I will glue it, but it will be delicate !!!

Voici une bordure en frivolité un peu plus élaboré, mais je me demande comment je vais la faire tenir sur le verre. Je vais surement finir par la coller.... mais c'est délicat !!!

Tatted candle holder

Not much to say.... I'm not a fan of edgings, but this one was nice to tat. It's an old DMC pattern. I like the way the candle holder turned out. No need to glue it, and it sits nicely on the glass. I think I'll try variations of this, probably with beads.

Pas grand chose à dire.... D'habitude je n'aime pas trop les bordures en frivolité, mais ici ça marche bien pour le photophore. En plus, pas besoin de coller, j'ai réussi à nouer les deux bouts ensemble. Je vais surement essayer des variations, avec des perles par exemple...

Snowflakes in crochet

Yesterday I made 6 snowflakes in crochet for the tree, or anywhere as Christmas decoration. It's a set of 6 in a 2009 magazine, so I wanted to make them all.

Then I made 4 of the easiest to try a new concept : crocheted snowflakes on candle holders. Apparently tacky glue works ok for that. The only thing is that the snowflakes are forming a "band" around the pot, and I wanted something more sparse. I will try again, I have plenty of glass pots ;)

Hier j'ai crocheté une série de 6 flocons de neige, venant d'un magazine de 2009. 


Et ensuite j'ai fait 4 flocons pour coller sur un photophore. La colle blanche semble bien aller pour ça, le seul truc est que les flocons forment une bande, alors que j'aurais voulu quelque chose de plus aéré. Enfin, j'ai encore plein de pots en verre pour faire des essais....
