I thought  long and hard about what to do with this little stitching, and rumaging through my stuff I came across this gift bag I bought a long time ago in Hobyycraft. A bit of double sided tape, and voilà ! Archie Bag !

Christmas stocking for the ficus tree

DBF just told me "It's only a month before Christmas !!!!" and he bought a Christmas tree (artificial) to decorate it. In the same movement, I also decorated my ficus tree, but it's so happy in my place it's still very leafy and my ornaments seem hidden in the tree !!!

Anyway, I this week end I made this little Mill hill stocking. One more ornament... My next project will be a big Christmas one, as I don't really feel like making ornaments...

For those who knows it, it's Joan Elliott's angel (similar to the Renaissance Lady i already stitched). Blues, purples, metalics and beads....

I know i probably should stitch Cinderella, but I want to try and get in the Christmas mood, and it's a hard task at the moment...

Le petit kit du week end... une botte de Noel.

DBF a dit samedi "Il n'y a qu'un mois avant Noel !!!!" et avec frénésie a acheté un sapin (artificiel) et l'a décoré. En rentrant chez moi, j'ai décoré mon ficus (j'ai retrouvé mes oeuvres perdues dans le déménagement précédent), mais le ficus est tellement content chez moi qu'il est encore très feuillu, et les décos se cachent dans l'arbre.

Maintenant je vais m'attaquer à un grand projet de Noel, un ange de Joan Elliott (bleus, mauves, perles, métalliques...). Je pourrais continuer Cendrillon, mais j'ai besoin d'essayer de me motiver pour Noel, car je suis loin du compte...

Winter comes early?

I was very well inspired to slip this little Mill Hill ornament kit in my traveling bag this weekend, because I was totally hooked, and not only did I stitch only that, but I stitched more than usual !

At the beginning of the week end it was only some white threads in the middle of the body, and a day and a half later, it was a full snowman witht the trimmings !

Even worse, I started a new Mill Hill christmas ornament, a little stocking.

So why the sudden passion? I think I enjoyed beading so much on the Halloween fairy I didn't want to stop...

J'ai été bien inspirée de glisser ce petit kit Mill Hill dans mon sac de voyage... car non seulement je n'ai brodé que ça, mais j'ai aussi brodé plus que d'habitude.

Au début du week end, ce n'était que quelques lignes de blanc, et un jour et demie après, c'était un bonhomme de neige avec son chapeau et un bonhomm een pain d'épices !!!

Et même pire, en rentrant je me suis précipitée sur un autre kit, une petite botte de Noel.

Alors, pourquoi cette passion subite? Je crois que j'ai tellement adoré faire les perles avec la fée Halloween que je ne peux plus m'arrêter...

Now with frame !!!

Yes, it's already framed, and displayed on the dvd/crafty bits shelves in the living room. It's next to the tv, in front of me when i stitch, so it's under my eyes all the time.

Of course, I expect DBF to put it somewhere else as soon as he comes back to put his PS3, but still...

Even the frame has a story. I stitched a husky dog head for my brother a few years back. Of course I didn't think of the guy factor when choosing the frame, so I got the frame back, and Mom put the dog in a more plain frame.

I didn't mind, knowing that I could use the frame for something else and... voila !

It's gold and darker area. I'm not a fan of golden frames, but the fairy is shimmering already, and the dark in the frame reminds me of the dark in the picture.

Some people asked me what I'm stitching now, well... "Welcome to the nuthouse", and I dug up cinderella as well... I need to progress big projects from time to time....

I noticed a new feature from blogspot: "followers". And I already have 4 of them even before adding the widget to the sidebar !!! How did you become a follower without this link???

I would also like to welcome the new visitors, I see a few commented today, and I can say I'm over the moon !!!

Well, time to go and stitch a little bit... Of course I have to do a bit of cleaning and packing as tomorrow is back onthe road to DBF's....

Hé oui, aussitôt fini, aussitôt encadré ! Bon, le destin m'a un peu aidée... Il y a quelques années, j'ai brodé un husky pour mon frère. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas pris en compte ses gouts et sa déco intérieure dans le choix du cadre.

Si bien que ma mère l'a changé, et m'a donné le cadre. ce qui tombe bien vu qu'il convient parfaitement à la fée, non seulement au niveau des dimensions, mais aussi dans le style et le fait que c'est doré/marron foncé, ce qui rappelle le dessin !!!!

Pour l'instant, le cadre et posé sur la bibliothèque dvd/craft à coté de la télé, il est sous mes yeux quand je brode. Evidemment, DBF le changera surement de place la prochaine fois qu'il vient, vu qu'il doit trouver où poser sa PS3....

A la question "mais que broder maintenant?", je vais répondre "Welcome to the nuthouse", et je vais aussi ressortir Cendrillon. Il faut bien avancer les gros projets parfois...

J'ai remarqué de nouvelles options de blogspot, comme les "abonnés", si bien que j'ai mis ce widget sur la gauche.

Enfin, bienvenue aux nouveaux, qui ont commenté d'ailleurs aujourd'hui, je suis aux anges !

Bon, c'est pas tout ça, mais je dois quand même broder un peu, et aussi ranger et enpaqueter pour le week end, car demain, à moi la route vers la France à nouveau....

Autumn Harvest really finished

I hear some people from here "she made a hornbook!!!"

Well no, it's a wooden bread plate over here. I found it in a craft store, it's not dissimilar to the one I made in kindergarden, so... it's probably a belgian thing.

Anyway, for 1.5 euros, I only had to varnish the wood, stick the design on cardboard before glueing on the wood, and voila ! I also found some wooden pumpkin decorations, and the whole thing is now on my kitchen wall.

The hobby shop on Saturday was quite a bust, no textile crafts whatsoever, and mostly painting, and train models. I will have to find stuff elsewhere...

J'entends d'ici les gens dire "elle a fait un hornbook!!!" He ben non, ici c'est une planche à pain... Assez similaire à un bricolage que j'ai fait en maternelle pour ma maman...

Mais bon, pour 1.5 euros, je n'ai eu qu'à vernir le bois, mettre la toile sur un carton, coller le tout sur le bois avec des décos "citrouilles" en bois, et le tour est joué !

Maintenant il est sur le mur de ma cuisine.

Chiloe, en matière de boutiques, j'ai pas grand chose dans le coin, ou elles se cachent. la boutique de samedi était quasi que des beaux arts, alors ca n'aide pas pour le textile. Il y a bien Mondial textiles près du boulot, mais c'est surtout du tissu, et du fil anchor !!! Bon....

Hard times again...

You know I moved recently to Belgium for a new job when I was made redundant in England... Well, after 3 weeks at the new job, the section was closed, and everybody was made redundant, except me and 2 others.

So yesterday was reliving a nightmare, more because I was spectator to the drama than actually living it though...

But for me it will mean a 45 min commute, and changing for an office based job I don't know the specifics yet. So I'm back to uncertainties for tomorrows and general thinkings about life and all the problems in the world...

But in the meantime, I finally put "dragon of hope" on my laptop bag...

This is the picture of the day, so you will see what I'm stitching well... tomorrow ;)

Ginny, i usually stitch those patterns in 2 days, so it was a reasonnable estimation, especially since I was on holidays with time on my hands !!!

Comme vous le savez, je viens de déménager en Belgique après avoir été licenciée économique en Angleterre. Et hier, ils ont fermé toute la section à mon nouveau job, et ils ont tous été licenciés, sauf 3 personnes (dont moi). Donc j'ai du revivre la situation très pénible du Printemps dernier, même si je ne suis que spectatrice pour le moment.

Et pour moi cela veut dire que je vais devoir travailler à 45min d'ici, et faire quelque chose d'autre, mais je ne sais pas encore quoi, c'est comme un retour à zero quoi !!!

En attendant, me revoilà entrain de repenser aux incertitudes et aux horreurs du monde... c'est pas bon !!!

Bon, voici quand même la photo de mon sac à dos d'ordi portable avec le "dragon of hope" dessus.

Et il faudra attendre pour voir ce que je brode, nananah !!!

La pochette lapins/fraises

Apres avoir attendu presque 2 mois, j'ai enfin fait ma pochette avec les lapins !!!

Un tissu plutot estival cette fois, et cette pochette est assez grande, avec un fond rectangulaire, et des pochettes a l'interieur pour que ce soit plus fignole (photos plus bas).

Je pensais que avec un fond rectangulaire, ce serait plus adequat pour les ouvrages au crochet, qui ont des pelottes, et donc plus de volume.

Donc tu vois Nath, le crochet est toujours la. En fait, j'en suis au dernier tour de mon napperon, et c'est l'ouvrage ideal pour faire quand le PC rame (il est temps que j'en change, et ce serait deja fait si je ne voulais pas un portable avec un clavier AZERTY - et donc des accents - plutot qu'un ordi avec clavier QWERTY)

Donc, nouveau ordi fin aout en fait...

Sinon he bien mon blabla sur les fils varies a semble vous interesser, c'est cool... il faut dire que c'est de l'experimentation. DBF dit que les experiences en labo doivent me manquer, car j'experimente... dans la cuisine ! Et son estomac ne se plait pas de mes petits gateaux... ;)

Comme vous l'avez surement remarque, j'ai mis le francais en premier aujourd'hui. J'avais dans l'idee d'inverser les langues, avec mon retour en pays francophones. A moins que, dans un esprit egalitaire, je change l'ordre des langues de temps en temps, mais ne serait-ce pas plein de confusion pour tous?

Just a bit of change... the english version is second today. Not sure I will leave it like that in the futre, even if it seems logical with my departure to French speaking countries...

I finally made the bunnies pouch. This time it's big, with inner pockets and a squared bottom, mostly to accomodate crochet projects using balls of threads.

I'm glad my little experiments with overdyed interest you. It's quite fun to do. DBF says I'm missing experiments in the lab, and I compensate with experimenting int he kitchen, and believe me, he doesn't complain about my little cakes !!!!

Framing day.... and other stuff

I started the day by searching for threads. The little market shop had my favourite DMC 4045 green variation thread, but was out of 931 and 5283. So I had to buy stuff in Hobbycraft later.

I found 2 frames in the market. It was amazing to find a long frame for the sampler. Soooo much easier than a bellpull, especially since I have no special top thingy or anything...

Finishing the border on Garden Girl was a nightmare, but a puzzling one. We could play "spot the differences" on that project, as there are mistakes a bit everywhere. So the 2 ends of the border shouldn't join... Except I cheated a little.

Before that I worked on my website. Again. First, I wanted something more "News about crafts" compared to my blog. Then I wanted to translate in French.

So the works are not totally done yet, but you can get the idea...

I also bought CrossStitcher and World of CrossStitcher this morning, and made a review of WOCS (CS will come later). So that's why Joan Elliott's new Stitching Angel is on my sidebar now. Just started. 34 different colours. Now that's a challenge...

J'ai commence ma journee par une chasse aux fils. Le marche avait mon fil DMC 4045 prefere pour le vert varie, mais pas DMC931, donc j'ai du aller a Hobbycraft.

Mais le marche avait des cadres interessant, et comme j'ai trouve un cadre qui convenait pour le sampler, je l'ai encadre au lieu de faire un bellpull. Ce qui a facilite ma tache, surtout que je n'ai pas de trucs pour pendre et faire vraiment un bellpull ;)

Garden Girl a ete une sorte de cauchemar: rien ne correspond, et on peut jouer au jeu des 7 erreurs avec. Et bien sur j'ai du tricher pour que la bordure se rejoigne correctement.

Avant la seance d'encadrement, j'ai bosse sur mon site. Encore. Je voudrais arriver a un site cible sur "Actualites et critiques de la broderie", avec mon blog gardant les trucs plus perso.

Et je voulais le traduire en francais. Le systeme a encore des bugs, mais les pages, les tutos par exemple, sont toutes traduites. Et j'ai aussi fait ma premiere critique de magazine en francais avec le nouveau World of CrossStitching.

Et c'est de la que vient mon nouveau projet, l'ange de la broderie de Joan Elliott qui est dans la barre de gauche. 34 couleurs... c'est un challenge !

A garden teapot on a tea cosy

If you are following the secret stitches (I keep a mailing list to send passwords for that... if you want to be in it, just send me you email adress!),you know I stitched a garden teapot for my mom's 60th birthday, to put on a tea cosy.

Because I only sewed the design on the tea cosy last week end (bought in Asda... at first I wanted to make it from scratch, but then I found the colours were going well together, and it would look better with the quilted effect...), I thought I could wait a week and show it to everybody today (The following day of the birthday).

I unlocked the previous posts, so you can start reading the story here (beginning and story), here (in between) and here (finished design).

I also included the little amigurumi doll, and the tea cup. The birthday party was quite huge (for us), 25 people meeting in a nice restaurant in blistering hot weather, then going to my parents to open the presents and stay in the garden... Needless to say my crafts were a hit. A cousin suggested I sell stitched designs like the teapot (hum... maybe not), and my grandma wanted a mini doll, even if she already has the original bigger one.

I only stitched a little bit on friday night during travel, so I can't say it was a stitching week end... on the contrary !

Si vous suivez les posts secrets (j'ai une mailing list pour envoyer les mots de passe a celles qui veulent. Comme ma maman et autres membres de ma famille suivent mon blog, je suis obligee de faire ca si je veux garder des surprises... mais les autres sont bienvenus. Envoyez-moi juste votre adresse email.) vous savez que j'ai brode une theiere pour les 60 ans de ma maman, pour la coudre sur un tea cosy (une housse a theiere en fait).

Au depart, je voulais coudre la housse moi-meme, mais j'ai trouve celle-ci en magasin, et je trouvais que ca allait bien niveau couleur... donc voila ! Ca faisait partie de mes travaux du week end dernier, mais comme je pouvais tout reveler aujourd'hui, j'ai decide d'attendre...

J'ai debloque tous les posts precedents, donc vous pouvez lire le depart, une image intermediaire et le design fini. J'ai aussi ajoute une mini poupee en crochet, et la tasse de the.

L'anniversaire s'est deroule hier, a 25 personnes au restau dans la chaleur de l'ete (tout est fait pour casser le mythe du Nord glacial!!!), puis a la maison de mes parents ou ont ete ouverts les cadeaux. Bien sur, mes objets faits mains ont ete tres bien recus, et certaines ont bave dessus, jugerant que je vende mes broderies, etc...

Comme il faisait super chaud, je n'ai brode que vendredi soir sur le trajet (train, salle d'attente).

3 days of crafting fun...

Loads of pictures today...

Instead of posting during the week end, I prefered to craft, and wait to post during the week. I know, don't ask. let's just say I had an urge to stitch and stitch some more.... It gave me great focus ! And that's how things are done...

I found a pattern for a crocheted daffodil, and had to make it as this is my favourite flower. Me and crochet are not best friends at the moment, my hands get tired fast. Cramps and the like. I suppose that's how stitching took over...

As predicted, I finished the birds !!!! Half stitches background was finished Sunday morning, and I did a little bit of the backstitching, but it got boring, so I left it and took... Garden Girl !!! Why? It was a wip closeby... Yesterday morning I was motivated for it again and finished it, including the french knots on the flowers.

I was so motivated that I even made a cushion out of it. It's been a while since I wanted to try this type of cushion. And with this project, it was not only easy, but a must !

You might have noticed that the background made a rectangle, and so any attempt at framing would require lacing, or other techniques so that the borders ould be perfectly aligned. Here, I sewed the fabrics on the edge of the borders. Easy peasy. I've put the birds on my mantle piece, instead of the "Gingerbread Cottage", which is too "winterey".

So as I previously said, I worked on Garden Girl. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with this design. Most of the time I feel it's too naive and childish. But sometimes I find it cute, like right now. And it's nice to stitch it. Would it be the lovely weather we have?

I also started Bee Harmony from Patricia Ann. This is part of "I want to stitch a speciality stitches sampler". I had the choice between a few samplers, but my choice was directed by the fact that this one DBF likes. Well, I had to make a choice anyway....

I hear Lili saying "eek ! bees !" already, but I like them, so delicate in over one stitches... That's how I see i progressed as a stitcher: I didn't have problems with disappearing stitches this time...
Garden Girl and Bee Harmony being 2 very different projects, I will stitch them at the same time (well, switching from one to the other of course !!!).

patternnuts, I'm not really interested in food I can't eat, it defies the whole purpose of it. Of course if you add eyes to make cute amigurumies, well, they just become cute characters. Otherwise, real food is better ;)

Beaucoup de photos aujourd'hui... J'ai simplement garde le week end pour bricoler loin de l'ordi, et donc me voila avec un message massif.

J'ai crochete une jonquille, car c'est ma fleur preferee. Celle-la ne se fanera pas ! Sinon, le crochet et moi ne sommes plus trop amis: j'attrape des crampes tres vite, et donc je ne peux pas crocheter longtemps. Du coup, la broderie reprend le dessus, car la, je peux broder 5 heures d'affilee sans probleme. Enfin, en brodant reellement 5 heures sans pause, je l'ai fait une fois par inadvertance, ca me donnerait des fourmis dans les doigts.

Ce week end j'ai ete tres motivee pour la broderie, donc. Les oiseaux sont non seulement termines (Lutine, j'ai reussi mes predictions!), mais meme devenus coussin !

Le fond en demi points a ete termine Dimanche, et apres un peu de points arriere, la toile m'est tombee des mains, et donc j'ai repris... Garden Girl. Pourquoi? Parce que c'etait l'encours le plus proche !!! Cette petite pause a fait que hier matin j'ai fini totalement les oiseaux, points de noeud compris. Et dans l'apres midi j'ai fait le coussin.

Ca faisait un bout de temps que je voulais essayer de faire ce style de coussin, et ya pas plus simple !! En plus, c'est totalement adapte a ce projet, vu qu'il a des bordures bien definies qui necessite d'etre totalement droit en suivant le modele. Simple avec une machine a coudre !
Maintenant le coussin trone sur ma cheminee. Un peu de Printemps, enfin !!!

Je ne sais pas si j'aime ou je deteste Garden Girl. Ca depend des jours. Parfois je le trouve trop naif et gamin, d'autres juste super mignon. En ce moment, je suis en phase "super mignon", et donc j'apprecie de le broder.

J'ai aussi commence "Bee Harmony" de Patricia Ann, que j'ai achete a K'thylda a Lille, car DBF a dit "c'et beau, prend celui-la". Je vois deja la grimace de Lili parce que ce sont des abeilles, mais je suis assez fiere de moi, car elles ne m'ont pas pose de problemes ce coup-ci, alors que il y a un an c'etait un grand challenge a cause des points qui disparaissaient sous la toile.

Donc en ce moment j'alterne entre Garden Girl et Bee Harmony car ce sont deux projets tres differents, et donc quand j'en ai marre de l'un, je passe a l'autre...

Still alive?

We are entering week 3 of sore throat... and sticky eye. My immune system has a hard time getting rid of whatever is inside of me...

I finished the secret stitch, just got o my website to check it out. And request the password if you don't have it.

It's quite big, a bit more than A4 size, with a zipped pocket inside on one side, and three pockets on the other side.

I don't feel like blogging at the moment, as I'm facing problems at work.

But you could argue that stitching is therapeutic and might help with depression and such...

All this to say my production will probably decrease, and be less creative for a while. And posts will be less light hearted ;)

Voici enfin le sac Curly fini, qui est assez grand (environ format A4). L'interieur a une pochette zippee,e t de l'autre cote 3 pochettes ouvertes.

je n'ai pas vraiment envie de blogger en ce moment vu que je dois faire face a des problemes au boulot. En cette periode deprimante, vous me direz que la broderie serait therapeutique, mais ma production risque d'etre moins creative que d'habitude. Et mes posts risquent d'etre moins gais aussi ;)

Finishes and my bunny in grey

First free week end in a while: I was waiting for it, to do some sewing and more crafts... Well, maybe not.

Yesterday evening I came down with a sore throat. In my case, it's the first sign of a "3 nights in bed" period, so on top of the pain, it's frustrating to see that happen just before the week end. Not to mention that I have to take care of my cells at work, they need daily supervision.

Anyway, yesterday I made.... an egg ! A felt egg one of course. I'm not really happy with the way it turned out. I made the rose, and the 2 weird looking leaves. I had to compensate with the rest...

And on Tuesday I made a little pincushion flower for my mom.

And, final point of the "show and tell", Terry Ann stitched my little bunny, in grey, so come have a look over here.

I have to agree with you, Pink canary, and stitcherw, Easter seems to come early, and I don't really feel like making decorations for it.

patternnuts, don't worry, I have to admit I had to dig a bit in order to find my original answer to the "7 things"... Maybe i should post less ;)

Elisabeth, I have to agree with you: the best stitching show in London is Alexandra Palace in October. The place is huge, and even if they have loads of paper, there's also loads of stitching and quilting. I was kinda sad I wasn't able to go this year because of my move ! Olympia has its charms as well. It's lead by the magazines, and they have the added bonus of having the designers there to chat with us. But it's a lot smaller than Alexandra palace... Cozy?

Oh, and the so called "discount kits" are actually more expensive than on the web !!!! So...

Generally speaking, I don't understand the latest paper craze. You spend a lot of money to make cards... or a photo album... Not to mention that a 5 years old can do it. So where is the challenge and sense of achievement? The debate is open...

Mon premier week end ou je m'attendais a faire plein de trucs, de couture et de bricolage, et vlan ! mal de gorge. Chez moi, ce'st le premier signe du gros rhume qui me colle au lit pendant 3 jours. donc en plus de la douleur, c'est frustrant !!!! Sans compter qu'au boulot mes petites cellules ont besoin de mon attention quotidienne....

Bon, hier j'ai fait... un oeuf. Je le trouve pas terrible, j'ai du compenser la grosse rose et les feuilles bizarres avec le reste. Enfin, c'est un coup d'essai... En plus, comme disent pink canary et Stitcherw, Paques arrive tot cette annee, et j'ai pas la motivation pour faire des trucs sur ce theme.

Mardi j'ai fait un pique aiguille fleur pour ma maman.

Et finalement Terry Ann a borde mon petit lapin en gris, venez voir ca !!!
Je dois dire que je suis assez envieuse de celles qui vont aller a l'Aiguille en fete ce week end a Paris... Ma derniere expo ayant ete un desastre papetier...

D'ailleurs, je me demande toujours pourquoi les trucs papiers sont tellement a la mode? Il faut acheter les elements hyper chers, pour faire des trucs qu'un gamin de 5 ans peut faire. Ou est le challenge et le sens de l'accomplissement? The debat reste ouvert...

Have a cup of cheer

Thanks to chance and DBF being late for work and carrying my precious enveloppe wherever he goes... Lili finally got the pouch I made her last week. This is the thing I was stitching and couldn't tell you about.

I wanted to make something for Lili who is feeling very depressed these days. The idea of the pouch was immediate: A stitcher always need stitching pouches. I now have 2, and thinking about making a third (just to have something more springy on it !)

And when I saw that design from The Sampler girl, I knew I had to stitch it for her !!! In the meantime I had made the fimo rose pins, so I included a few in the package as well.

The chart doesn't include a colour key, but you know me, I like choosing my own colours... So I decided to stitch everything DMC, so the pouch would be washable (a must for carry-it anywhere pouch). I made her eyes blue like mine, same hair colour, only the shape of the hair is more Lili's than mine (!!!) but I didn't want to stray too far from the original design. I added 2 roses in bullion knots as a bonus.

The pouch itself.. I found that fabric in Hobbycraft, and the inside fabric is yet again a Flower Fairies fabric from the market a while ago... There's also an inside pocket.

I will let her give her impressions of the pouch on her blog, whenever she feels like blogging... Or read her comment on the previous post. Now on to the comments answers:

Patternnuts, the flower is the size of a regular water bottle cap, so (searching for a ruler, can't find any... let's estimate then !) H 2cm x W 4cm. So quite small...

Nela, no link to traductor, porque la traducion es un desastro, y looks like a giant joke. If you really want to translate, ask google translator... but be prepared to have something very far from the truth...

Ginny, I intentionally bought a house end of terrace, but away from the car park area to avoid noises of people coming back home late (or leaving early). My previous house was next to the car park and the noise was disturbing indeed !

People who followed the glasses disaster a few weeks ago will be happy to know I went to the optician yesterday, I had all the tests done, including a photograph of the inside of my eyes, and I have very healthy eyes. The only problem is they are better fit to see small details like stitching over one on 40ct, than seeing far away ;) But I'll ended up with new glasses (the optician nearly had an heart attack when I told her I have no spare!!!) in a week or so (lenses need to be ordered...).

In the "everything falls apart" section, the coffee maker was dripping so had to be replaced.
Well, tomorrow we will have a fun day at Excel's Stitching and Creative crafts expo, and despite the apparent small size of it, it will be a nie day out. After all, day out with stash is better than day out without !!!!

Grace a un peu de chance, et un retard de DBF pour le boulot, et le fait qu'il se balade partout avec ma precieuse enveloppe, Lili a enfin eu son cadeau, une trousse de brodeuse que j'ai faite la semaine derniere sans pouvoir en parler.

Ca fait un moment que je voulais lui faire quelque chose car elle se sent pas bien, et des le depart je voulais faire une trousse. Une brodeuse a toujours besoin de trousses: j'en ai deux, et je pense en faire une troisieme, pour avoir quelque chose de plus printanier. Alors quand j'ai vu le design de The Sampler Girl, j'ai su que c'etait pour elle !

Comme j'ai fait les roses en fimo entre deux, j'ai aussi inclu ca dans le paquet.
J'ai tout brode en DMC car je voulais que la trousse soit lavable, un must pour une trousse censee se balader un peu partout. La ou la brodeuse va, la trousse et la broderie a l'interieur vont.

La grille est presentee sans references de couleur, mais vous savez deja que ca ne me gene pas ! J'ai mis des yeux bleus comme les miens, et la couleur de mes cheveux, mais la forme est plutot ceux de Lili, mais je n'ai pas voulu changer le design d'origine. Et j'ai ajoute 2 roses en point de poste pour le fun.

Le tissu externe vient de Hobbycraft, tandis que l'interieur est a nouveau du tissu "Flower Fairies" que j'ai eu au marche il y a des annees. J'ai aussi cousu une pochette interieure.
Lili vous donnera ses impressions elle meme sur son blog, ou lisez ses reactions dans les commentaires du post precedent !!!

Les gens qui ont suivi l'epopee des lunettes seront ravis de savoir que j'ai ete chez l'opticien hier, pour un test complet, incluant une photo du fond de l'oeil, et l'opticienne a dit que j'avais des yeux en parfaite sante. Le seul probleme est que ce sont des yeux adaptes a la vision minuscule de pres, genre broder sur un fil, et pas pour voir de loin. Donc dans une semaine a peu pres, j'aurai des nouvelles lunettes.

Dans la section "tout tombe en panne", la cafetiere a rendu l'ame, en coulant d'endroit suspects, donc il a fallu la remplacer.

Demain nous irons a l'expo de Excel London "Stitching and creative crafts", et j'espere m'y amuser malgre l'apparente petitesse de l'endroit ! Enfin, une journee avec de la broderie est mieux qu'une journee sans...

Valentine's frenzy

After all my blabbing, here is a picture heavy post. I know you love those (I love those...).

For some time, I was preparing stuff for Valentine's day, making bits and bobs... and here is the final result !

First, the mantel piece... From left to right, you see a mini Tweety holding a heart. It was a Christmas gift from DBF, and he said himself it was more fiting for Valentine's day, so I've put it on my mug tree (supposedly a display tree, but I don't use it to its full potential yet).

Then you have Valentine crackers, similar to Christmas crackers, but "love themed". As DBF wanted to treat Valentine's evening as Christmas eve, I thought these were fitting !

Then we have the love cats, turned into a cushion. I actually made both cushions the same size and all as I knew they would be displayed together. I only closed them yesterday evening.

In the middle you have a heartshaped Ferrero Rocher box, as these are DBF's favourite chocolates (I don't like them myself, it removes the temptation ;), and on top is the February heart.

Next we have the gifts. The little brown one is for DBF, the pink bag "For you" is for me.
At the bottom are the 2 Valentine stockings, filled with heart shaped chocolates.

The left blue one is DBF's, with a mini PSP video game console. The right pink one is mine, with a stitcher, which is taken from LHN Stitcher's prayer. The felt hearts were taken from bag kits for kids (other pieces are right pink !!!), and I added some heart gemstones.

The stitched elements took ages as it's on plastic canvas, and even if I like the finished pieces, it's not nice to stitch. I feel that something stitched on plastic canvas is already an object in its own right. You can carry it around, manipulate it without fear of creasing or fraying the fabric, and it stands on its own.

I abandonned the garland idea, and the felted hearts with miniatures on them, mostly by lack of inspiration and time. Now I will be able to stitch full time on Curly Q Ewe !!!
And to finish, the first daffodil in my garden....

Apres des posts tout en texte, voici des images, comme on aime... Ca fait un moment que je parle des preparatifs de St Valentin, et j'ai enfin fini hier soir.

Donc voici la cheminee, avec de gauche a droite, un petit Titi portant un coeur, que j'ai eu a Noel par DBF. Comme il fait plus St Valentin, je l'ai accroche a l'arbre a mugs (normalement pour accrocher des decos, mais pas encore utilise a son plein potentiel...). Apres nous avons des crackers de St valentin, comme ceux de Noel, et comme DBF veut celebrer St Valentin comme Noel, ca me paraissait tres adequat !

Ensuite nous avons les petits chats, en version coussin. Les deux coussins sont de la meme taille en fait, car je savais que j'allais les mettre en pendant sur la cheminee.

Au milieu il y a une boite de Ferrero Rochers, pour DBF (moi j'aime pas), en forme de coeur, et au dessus le coeur de Fevrier fait il y a un bout de temps. Finalement a droite nous avons les cadeaux, le mien est dans le sac rose.

En dessous nous avons les sacs de St Valentin, remplis de chocolats en forme de coeur. celui de gauche avec le S bleu est celui de DBF, avec la petite console PSP, et le mien est a droite, avec la petite brodeuse qui vient de "Stitcher's prayer" de LHN. A l'origine les coeurs den feutrine viennent de kits pour petites filles pour faire des sacs. Je n'ai utilise que les gros coeurs rouges, laissant les perles, les rubans et les trucs rose clashy.

Ce qui a pris le plus de temps sont les elements sur canevas plastique. J'adore quand c'est fini, mais c'est dur a broder. J'ai toujours l'impression que quelque chose de brode sur canevas plastique est un objet fini en lui-meme, qu'on peut manipuler comme on veut.

J'ai abandonne l'idee de la guirlande, ainsi que les miniatures sur feutrine, par manque de temps et d'inspiration. Enfin, maintenant que mes devoirs sont finis, je vais pouvoir me consacrer a Curly Q Ewe !!!

Finalement, j'ai mis une photo de la premiere jonquille du jardin, qui a pousse toute seule au milieu de nullepart...

PSPete is alive !

This is PSPete, the happy little PSP console. This character is born when I made a felt mascot version of him for DBF's PSP. I also made the pixel logo you can see here on the top right, and transformed it into a cross stitch pattern.

It is stitched on plastic canvas as it's part of the Valentine stocking project, to decorate DBF's heart bag, along with the big blue "S".

I have to say working on plastic canvas is hard on my fingers. I then lost the will to stitch, started 2 new projects before giving up totally around 11pm.

After a very prolific week end, I'm sure you are expecting me to slow down a bit during the week, and you are right. Tonight is swimming night, and I uually come back very tired from it. So no much stitching. I have sore fingers, so it's good timing.

I suppose I'm a bit in limbus for the moment, waiting for Friday to start Curly Q Ewe... Of course I should focus on the Love Cats, but well, you know how it is...

Voici PSPete, la joyeuse petite PSP. J'ai cree ce personnage sous la forme d'une mascotte en feutrine pour DBF il y a environ 2 ans. Depuis j'ai fait une version pixel (celle qui est en haut a droite de cette page), et une version point de croix.

Brode sur canevas plastique, ca fait partie du projet "St Valentin", et ira decorer le sac en forme de coeur de DBF, avec son "S" bleu.

Travailler sur le canevas en plastique est dur pour les doigts. Ensuite j'ai perdu la motivation pour broder vers 11h du soir hier.

Apres un week end prolifique, il fallait s'attendre a une semaine plus calme. Et comme j'ai piscine ce soir, et les doigts en compote... c'est un bon timing.

En fait, j'attend vendredi pour commencer Curly Q Ewe, et entre deux je sais pas trop quoi faire. Je sais que je pourrais finir les Love Cats, mais ce serait trop simple....

Quite a few things to show...

First, the Love Cats. They are finished in crosses, and only lack the flowers and leaves at the top of the swing. Of course, they will require some serious backstitching to look like something.....

Quelques trucs a voir....

Premierement, les chats amoureux. Les croix sont finies, a part les fleurs et les feuilles au dessus de la balancoire.

Bien sur, le tout ressemblera a un blog geant tant que les points arriere ne seront pas faits.

Then there's a big... blue S.

The plan is to make the heart bags, with big S on it (blue for DBF, pink for me... Our initials if you are wondering, yes, both our names start with S, it's freaky).

I thought it would be more versatile to do it on plastic canvas. So I used a blue thread for the outline, and a DMC variation for the inside. Yes, all those different colours are just one thread, I find it amazing.

I was going to put little hearts in the S (that is just slightly smaller than the original, btw), but This was it will be reusable, and it looks more "pure".

I included the back picture because it looks so neat ;)

Ensuite, nous avons... un grand S bleu ! Ca fait partie du plan "sacs St Valentin". Je dois faire 2 grands S (un bleu pour DBF, et un rose pour moi, he oui, nos noms commencent tous les deux par S, c'est etonnant). Alors j'ai pense que de faire ca sur canvas plastique serait plus versatile.

L'image est un peu plus petite que l'original, et j'ai inclu la photo de l'arriere, car c'etait si propre !!!)

J'ai utilise un fil bleu pour le contour, et du DMC variation pour l'interieur. Un fil, tant de texture, c'est incroyable !!! J'allais mettre des petits coeurs dans le S, mais comme ca c'est plus pur et reutilisable pour un homme.

Finally... a finish ! And the journey of a mind, I heard some of you like that....

This morning I was a bit depressed. Filling the "S" was no fun, the Love cats were no fun, I craved to start something, but it wasn't wise...

I started thinking about how I was going to travel to France a few times this Spring. after such boredom now. In parallel, I thought about How School of Needlework was nicely framed, and I had no idea what to do with "Stitcher's prayer".

I wanted to do something special and stitchy with it. But I already have the pouches I need... then it struck: Daylight lamp. It's long (well, high), and the design is long... it felt like a perfect match !

And here is how it took form: a portable Daylight lamp drawstring bag. Before you ask, yes, I did take pictures to make a tutorial. It will come soon.

It's doubled with grey fleece (leftover from a jumper my grandma made me), and I added some padding for extra protection during transport. And the bottom is squared.

Surprisingly, the bag ended up the other way around from what I originally intended. I wanted the design along the bag, not across it. What happened is that when I sew the 2 fabrics together and incased the cord, I used the lines of the fabric as guide, and forgot the design disposition !!!!

I'm happy I made the mistake though, it looks better like that, the words are horizontal and all...

Pour finir... un "finish", sous la forme d'un sac de transport pour ma lampe Daylight. Avec un peu de cheminement de la pensee, j'ai entendu quelque part que certaines aimaient ca.

Ce matin, j'etais un peu deprimee. Les projets n'etais plus amusants, remplissage du S, les chats en fils courts... l'ennui quoi !

Puis j'ai pense au Printemps et mes multiples voyages en France. En parallele, je me demandais encore que faire de "Stitcher's prayer", qui est trop long pour rentrer dans un cadre conventionnel et finir sur mes murs.

En plus je voulais faire quelque chose de special, pour ma broderie. Comme c'est long, comme ma lampe est haute... ca faisait parfaite combinaison !

Avant qu'on ne me pose la question, oui j'ai fait des photos pour faire un tuto.

Ce sac est double de polaire (restes d'un pull que ma grand mere m'a fait), et il y a du mattelassage entre deux pour encore plus de protection.

Le paradoxe est qu'a l'origine, les rayures et la broderie devaient etre dans l'autre sens, mais je prefere le rendu comme ca.
Je crois que je me suis basee sur les rayures pour coudre la doublure et le trou pour le cordon, et j'ai oublie l'orientation de la broderie !!!

The finishes display

First, here is my Valentine's heart project. I finished it last Sunday (see post here). I thought it would be fun to display it on a heart.

So I found heart shapes on the net, and started cutting and sewing.

I then crocheted the lace you see around it in pink thread. This step took all week, because it was quite a long piece of lace !!!

Note that everything is sewn by hand this time, for precise finition.

J'ai enfin fini mon coeur commence dimanche (voyez le post ici). Apres avoir coupe de la feutrine selon une forme de coeur trouvee sur internet, j'ai passe la semaine a crocheter la dentelle en fil rose. Et j'ai tout cousu a la main pour plus de precision.

On Monday I bought a frame for School of Needlework from Hobbycraft. I chose a brown that was close to the browns in the design.

I still need to choose a place where to display it in my house !

In the past few days, I managed not only to add daily news, but I also decided to share my "Coup de coeur" (crush) of the day. Something that made me go "waouh" when I went through my daily surfing.

So I advice you to add the rss feed of my website so you can get all the latest infos !

I know it might be a bit confusing, it's like having 2 blogs, but the thing is I try to prepare for spam attack. If I can do without comments on neutral stuff on my website, it would be annoying to loose advantages on the blog.

In a perfect world, the web traffic wouldn't be swamped with spam, my blog and website would still be in their original place, and we would be a lot happier ;)

Petra, it's so good to see you back ! You're right about Margaret Sherry's cats: I now have a ginger and a grey blob on my fabric, and it's not really cat like ;)

Stitcherw, I guess that with practice, we recognise the cats even half finished !

As they are direct adaptations of watercolour drawings, I guess that's why the backstitching makes all the difference !

This week end, I intend to make some Valentine decorations. I've started early today by going food shopping at 8.30am, even before breakfast (which I took over there). It's such a nice change from last week: nobody there. It's amazing to think that just a few hours later the car park is so packed you need 20 min to leave it !

First, I guess I would have to clean up a bit... it's not really inspiring to have stash all over the house !!!

Et maintenant, le blabla general...

Vous avez surement remarque la banniere vous invitant a visiter mon site recemment modifie. Ce n'est pas simplement un changement de deco, j'ai aussi decide de mettre la'ctualite broderie, ainsi que les coups de coeur du jour, un truc qui m'a particulierement plu lors de mon surf quotidien.

Je vous invite a ajouter le feed de mon site a votre reader de blog. Je sais que ca peut etre confusionnant d'avoir 2 "blogs", mais je couvre mes arrieres en cas de spam qui ferait desactiver mon site.

Mes petits chats avancent, ce sont desormais 2 blobs... il faut dire que ca ne ressemblera pas a grand chose avant de faire les points arriere. Comme ce sont des adaptations directes d'aquarelles de Margaret Sherry (qui ne brode pas du tout), ca me semble normal.

Pink Canary, j'ai brode les petits chats sur aida car je trouve que le rendu sera plus "moderne", et plus comme je veux. J'aurais peut eter du prendre du 16 count, mais bon... bof.

Ce week end, je pense faire des decos de St Valentin, apres un rangement serieux. Tant de trucs de broderie dans tous les coins, ca n'inspire pas trop !!!

J'ai ete tres matinale, j'ai ete faire mon shopping a 8h30, au saut du lit, sans petit dej, que j'ai pris a la cafet du magasin. Asda fait un English breakfast pour 1 livre50... quasi rien !

Et quelle difference avec la semaine derniere: personne quasiment, alors que quelques heures apres c'est tellement bourre de monde qu'il faut 20 minutes pour sortir du parking !!!

Miniature "lapin"

Yesterday I we had a crepes party at Lili's. I wasn't feeling like sittching on "Stitcher's prayer", so I started this little japanese freebie over one on... 36ct linen. You can find it here.

Yes, it was a bit of madness... You can see it's less than 4cm for a 45x45 stitches. A size 28 needle feels big to work with.

I had time to stitch the whole thing but the border at Lili's yesterday evening, as the guys played ont he PS3 until... 3am !!! Lili and I felt like we did a lot of stitches...

This morning I finished it into a mini scissor fob. I got the back fabric in K'thylda.

Lili and I also went to a LNS in Quesnois sur Deule where she knows the lady, and I got some Bent Creek, Lizzie Kate and other charts. And some silk ribbons. I'm sure you know where I'm going with my ribbons... New technique !!!

PS: I didn't change anything to the layout of my blog. I check on Firefox, IE, and on different computers, I don't see anything fishy...

Un petit freebie japonais que j'ai brode en 1 sur 1 sur lin 14fils hier soir chez Lili. Les garcons ont joue a la PS3 jusqu'a 3h du mat, ca fait beaucoup de temps pour broder !!!

Ce projet est 45x45 points, et fait moins de 4cm. Et c'est maintenant un mini coussin !

On a aussi ete a Quesnois sur Deule dans une boutique de broderie, et j'ai pris des rubans de soie et des grilles.

How to close a cushion

Well, Danielle... you are lucky to ask your questions on a week end... I made a tutorial about how to close a cushion. I have to admit I still had Pine tree Hill to close up, so...

For your particular project, I would match the fabric at the front. That's what you will be showcasing, right? ;)

Susan, I will indeed remain inside... it's 3c outside... and I still have a bit of a cold. But I don't feel particularly crafty today... so I don't know... ;)

Anyway, I'm sure I had this cushion left out... so here it is !
