1 year and 1 month later....

Yes, I looked on this blog : it's been exactly 1 year and 1 month since I stitched !!!! This might explain the weird stormy weather we are having around here at the moment....

Lavender's blue is finished !!!

It seems incredible, but yes, I have a stitching finish ! After a terrible Thursday, where I had such a sinus ache I could eat, sleep or anything, I was glad to be rid of it by the evening. And Friday my head felt to light, I did the house work, and lots of stitching.

And now, I wanted to stitch a bit of Margaret Sherry, cute animals, so I took these cats, thinking of DBF and his passion for coffee mugs and coffee.

My hand is ok for the moment, but I don't try anything too strainous...

C'est incroyable, mais j'ai fini une broderie !!! Cliquez pour la voir en grand !!!

Jeudi j'ai eu le pire mal de tête de ma vie, enfin, les sinus, et je ne pouvais plus même manger ou dormir, l'horreur ! Heureusement ça a stoppé dans la soirée, et on sent alors sa tête légère...

Hier donc j'étais pleine de courage pour le ménage et tout ça, et donc j'ai beaucoup brodé. J'étais motivée car je ne voulais pas commencer un nouvel ouvrage sans finir ce petit tableau, car j'ai envie de broder des animaux rigolos de Margaret Sherry. Et mon choix s'est arrêté sur ces chats dans des tasses à café, en honneur de DBF qui est fan de tasses (il en achète encore et encore) et de café.

Ma main va mieux, mais je n'ai pas trop poussé non plus, donc ceci explique cela :)

Can you believe this? I started this LHN project during my blog slump, and so I have no previous post or picture about its progress !!! And now I'm nearly starting the last bit: the border !!!

I have to admit I feared all the text and now it's done, I think it was piece of cake ;)

I did loads of crochet lately, and on Monday I might have been over the top, so now my right wrist and tumb hurt. And you know what that means... yeah, no more crochet, no more crafting, etc... Well, I stitch with my left hand, so it's ok, and I taught myself to crochet with the left as well. Not to mention that I have to use the computer mouse with my left hand as well... I'm so glad I'm ambidextrous !!!

Crochetting with the left hand isn't much different than crochetting with the right, but I'm slow, I have to practice, for the moment it's ok for yarn and big stuff that don't ask for much tension, but I hope to get better soon ;)

Anyway, I want to finish this project soon, it's been a wip long enough !!!

J'ai eu beau chercher, je n'ai pas trouvé de photos et de posts sur ce projet dans mes archives. Et maintenant il est plus proche de la fin que du début !!! J'ai du travailler dessus pendant la période où je ne bloggais plus, en octobre décembre... Oh, ben le voilà de toute façon !!!

Je craignais tout le texte, et j'ai failli ne pas le faire, et puis j'ai pris mon courage à deux mains, et finalement... ce n'était pas si difficile. Il ne reste quasiment plus que la bordure.

J'ai fait beaucoup de crochet ces derniers temps, peut être un peu trop, vu que je me retrouve avec une douleur au poignet et au pouce droit. Et on sait ce que cela signifie : au moins du repos !!! Mais c'est embêtant, car on ne peut plus rien faire, ou alors...

Profitant que je suis ambidextre, la souris de l'ordi est passée à gauche. L'aiguille est déjà dans la main gauche, serait-ce un message pour que je me remette à la broderie? Bon, j'apprends à crocheter avec la main gauche. Je suis encore un peu mal habile, mais pour les granny squares, ça passe.

Toujours est-il que j'aimerais finir ce projet rapidement, il a tellement trainé déjà !!!

Coming to America finished

I'm back to regular stitching... and that's how I finished this "Coming to America" from LHN. Click on the picture to see it bigger. Now I'm on "Lavender's blue", a new one from LHN, on the same fabric.

This week will be my move, and I still have so many things to do, it's frightning! I mean, after all the packing, there will be the unpacking, and the cleaning, etc... And I start an interim work the following week ! Well... Busy busy !!!!

Je suis de retour au point de croix, et j'ai donc fini "Coming to America " de LHN. J'ai enchainé avec "Lavender's blue", aussi de LHN, et sur la même toile.

Cette semaine aura lieu mon déménagement, et il y a donc beaucoup à faire, avant et après, vu qu'une fois emballé, il faudra tout ranger à nouveau, nettoyer, etc.... Et la semaine suivante, je commance un interim ! Busy Busy....

Coming to America is back !

I'm glad to see you are still following my blog ! In between crochet (I'll show that later), I'm working on "Coming to America" from LHN. Last update on that was March 25th !!!

I gave my grandma her birthday frame yesterday, and she was really glad ! I framed it in a wooden square frame, just the right size ! I had that in my stuff...

Yesterday I received JCS Christmas ornaments and "Lavender's blue" pattern from LHN I ordered from 123 Stitch. Postage is a bit expensive, but it only took a week to cross the big pond !!! I plan on starting Christmas stitches after Coming to America...

Je suis contente de voir que vous suivez toujours mon blog.... Entre deux séances de crochet, j'ai repris "Coming to America", que j'avais délaissé vers le 25 mars !!!

J'ai donné la broderie d'anniversaire à ma grand mère hier, et elle était ravie. Je l'ai encadrée dans un un cadre en bois carré qui était juste à la taille, et que j'avais dans mes affaires.

Hier j'ai aussi reçu le magazine Christmas ornaments de JCS, et "Lavender's blue" de LHN, par 123 Stitch. Le postage est un peu chère, mais cela n'a mis qu'une semaine moins un jour pour arriver de l'autre coté du l'Atlantique !!! Donc je vs bientôt commencer à broder pour Noël....

Before you wonder where I am...

Here is my progress on "Coming to America". End of the week, I was very motivated and stitched most of the house, and then on Saturday I found a crochet doily magazine, and that was it, I had to make a doily.

I know it looks like the house is going one way, and the people are a bit... well... But it's just a scanner effect !

The weather was so nice until Monday, and now it's horrible, rain, wind... yuck !

"Japan Style" magazine has an article on amigurumis, and I bought a book on Amazon, so I feel I will make some crochet critters for Easter soon...

Avant que vous ne vous demandiez où je suis... Voici l'état de "Coming to America". Ca a l'air penché, mais ce n'est qu'un effet de scanner !

En fin de semaine dernière, j'étais très motivée, et la maison est montée vite. Mais Samedi j'ai trouvé un magazine de napperons au crochet et je me suis mise à faire ça à la place. Sans compter qu'il faisait beau et il fallait en profiter.

Maintenant le temps est à la pluie et au vent, c'est horrible !

Post week end update

First, today is the first time I'm home when there is enough light to take a picture of my tatted egg sewn on felt I made more than a week ago !

The fern green is nice for the contrast witht he white, but it's a bit camouflage in the tree !!!

Next one will be on red or whatever...

Then this week end I was inspired to stitch "Coming to America", and I made all the immigrants already. But we don't know where they are coming from, or where they are going !

Tout d'abord, aujourd'hui est le premier jour où j'ai pu prendre une photo de mon oeuf frivolité sur feutrine, car d'habitude il fait trop sombre pour la photo ! Et ce depuis plus d'une semaine !!!

Le choix du vert est pas très heureux, car c'est un peu camouflage dans l'arbre, donc surement que le prochain sera sur rouge ou un truc comme ca.

Ce week end j'ai progressé sur "Coming to America", et j'ai fini les immigrants, même si on ne sait pas d'où ils viennent ni où ils vont !

Yes, I finally finished it !!!

In the end I didn't put the beads and button in, so that it looks more rustic.

I started "Coming to America" this morning, with even the recommended fabric !!!! So we'll see how it will turn out...

It's the second day I drive with my new car, but it's not easy to be on the other side of the car !!! Plus I had the bad surprise on Monday evening to notice that the bonnet paint was badly damaged, but the garage will repaint next week. The sale guy hadn't noticed either !!!

Et oui, enfin les poupoules, et le reste du truc, évidemment. Je n'ai pas mis les perles ni le bouton pour garder l'aspect rustique (et parce que j'avais pas vu où c'était d'après la grille, car elle indique des couleurs de fil, et pas de symboles exprès pour les perles !!!)

J'ai commencé "Coming to America" ce matin, et cette fois-ci j'utilise même la toile recommendée !!!

Sinon, je suis dans mon deuxième jour de conduite de ma nouvelle voiture, et c'est pas si simple de s'adapter, mais surtout lundi soir j'ai eu la mauvaise surprise de remarquer que la peinture du capot était fort endomagée, mais heureusement le garage va le repeindre la semaine prochaine. le vendeur n'avait pas vu non plus !!!

Saturday update

I've been a bit silent, but today you get 3 pictures for the price of one !

Life has been busy. Last Saturday I bought a car: second hand black Corsa. So I had to run around finding an insurer (and with the Postal strike, I needed someone I could talk to face to face), and get a licence plate (in Belgium the car plate is linked to the driver, not the car).

And then I had a few days off, and this is how you can see my crafts !

First, my little papaer friends in origami. A bunny, a pig, mommy cygnus, baby cygnus and a dragon. The dragon is ma favourite, it's also the most intricate.
I always loved making origami animals, and i have rather a big collection of nice papers, so...

I also bought "Anna magazine". full of Spring and Easter ideas...
I will make a whole post on it later. For the moment, I made this carot. The picture is about life size. It's still hollow, with a hole on top, because the original model is a bit bigger, and you can put little eggs in it.

And last but not least, I progressed on Hen party, and the two houses are now up and standing. Normally there should be beads and a button in this pattern, but it seems like I will just follow the pattern that is without. I like a more rustic look for this project.

Après un silence radio, me revoilà avec 3 images pour le prix d'une !!!

La vie est très occupée aussi, car j'ai acheté une Corsa noire d'occasion samedi dernier, et j'ai du faire les démarches pour l'immatriculer. En Belgique, la plaque est liée au conducteur, pas la voiture !

Puis j'ai quelques jours de vacances, et c'est ainsi que j'ai bricolé un petit peu.

Donc je vous présente mes amis de papier, un cochon, un lapin, les cygnes maman et bébé, et un dragon. Mon préféré est évidemment le dragon ! Ca fait longtemps que je fais de l'origami, et j'ai une belle collection de papiers spéciaux achetés aux US, à Londres (je recommande les boutiques asiatiques de Picadilly circus) et même en France !

J'ai aussi acheté "Anna magazine" plein d'idées pour Paques et le printemps. Mais je parlerai de ce magazine dans un post à part. pour l'instant, vous pouvez voir ma carotte en crochet, qui est à peu près en taille réelle. Pour l'instant elle est creuse, car l'original est censé être un peu plus grand et accueillir des petits oeufs.

Et enfin, Hen Party qui se continue doucement... on voit désormais les deux maisons (et pas encore de poupoules, mais ça ne saurait tarder !!!)

Well, it looks like I tend to post every week now? I suppose I don't have much to show for progress these days, as I mostly play on my DS handheld.

But one of the houses appeared !

For once in a very long time, I'm home on a Saturday morning. So I took some time to update my Picassa album and such.

I finally decided to stitch "Hen party" from LHN (original picture on the left). Mostly because it's chicken and I want to have it done for Easter or so...

This week end I worked on the little birds and finished the project just yesterday evening !

I'm back to full LHN mode. Yesterday I ordered the new "Coming to America" pattern, and 2 others, with threads and fabric. After all, I didn't get any stitchy gifts for Christmas, but my grandmas gave me money for it, so...

Of course, I will keep stitching the bunny. Pink Canary, you are cheeky, yes, stitching the bunny boy would be nice, but it won't be for this year !!! Too difficult !!!!

De plus, hier j'ai commandé des grilles LHN, dont le dernier, "Coming to America". Je n'ai pas eu de cadeaux de broderie, mais par contre j'ai des grand mères qui m'ont donné des étrennes pour !

Je n'abandonnerai pas la lapine de Paques pour autant, mais j'ai le temps... Pink canary, tu es une coquine, je sais bien que faire le lapin ferait une bonne paire, mais ca ne sera pas pour cette année, trop compliqués !

Post weekend pictures

Well, I felt stitchy end of the week and during the week end, so I progressed a bit.

First, the birds, I stitched the boring snow, leaves and a bird. Boring because it's long lines of white.

Then the bunny.... I made the basket, and it wasn't easy, because of the different browns. Plus I forgot some colours at home, so I had to stitch here and there with what I had (ok, most of the colours, but still...)

So now guess what? it's time to stitch....

La fin de la semaine dernière et ce week end j'ai brodé pas mal, et donc voici les photos !

Tout d'abord, on a les oiseaux. Là, j'ai surtout fait la neige, ce qui était fastidieux car c'est des longues lignes.

Et aussi, le lapin... J'ai fait le panier, qui n'était pas évident à cause des différents bruns. Et j'avais oublié des couleurs à la maison, alors... j'ai du m'en passer !

Et maintenant, je retourne à la broderie....

Let the little birds sing...

And I hear you say « she was stitching Easter,, and now it's back to wintery stuff?" Well… the fact is I finally got a hold on this pattern from Little House Needleworks in CrossStitch and Needlework from last year. Taking patterns off magazines saves space, especially when you are moving, but obviously years of magazines give a lot of patterns… And so they got lost in the move. But not too far. But it needed a bit of tender rummaging through stuff to find.

At the same time I took the Easter patterns and found the boy version of the bunny I'm stitching (published in US CrossStitcher the following year as the girl bunny). I still have to find my favourite bunny pattern, but that will be for later.

The bunny pattern is quite complex. The pattern itself is in black and white, with similar symbols, so I had to photocopy and colour a few things, but it's still not that easy with so many colours. So yesterday I really enjoyed stitching something simple like these birds.

Je vous vois venir d'ici: Pourquoi revient-elle à l'hiver, après une incursion de paques ? En fait…. J'ai enfin trouvé ma grille des oiseaux chanteurs de Little House needleworks, paru l'an dernier dans CrossStitch and Needlework.

J'avais assez de courage hier pour parcourir mes grilles, à la recherche de trucs de paques, quand je suis tombée dessus. Détacher les grilles des magazines fait gagner de la place, mais après déménagement, on a du mal à retrouver ce qu'on veut.
J'ai aussi retrouvé le magazine original du bunny, et la version petit garcon qui est parue dans le même magazine un an après.

Comme vous vous en doutez, la petite bunny est très longue à faire. Grille en noir et blanc avec des symboles similaires (j'ai du photocopier et colorier), avec énormément de couleurs dispersées dans tous les coins. Donc je me suis éclatée hier avec les petits oiseaux tous simples !

Autumn Harvest really finished

I hear some people from here "she made a hornbook!!!"

Well no, it's a wooden bread plate over here. I found it in a craft store, it's not dissimilar to the one I made in kindergarden, so... it's probably a belgian thing.

Anyway, for 1.5 euros, I only had to varnish the wood, stick the design on cardboard before glueing on the wood, and voila ! I also found some wooden pumpkin decorations, and the whole thing is now on my kitchen wall.

The hobby shop on Saturday was quite a bust, no textile crafts whatsoever, and mostly painting, and train models. I will have to find stuff elsewhere...

J'entends d'ici les gens dire "elle a fait un hornbook!!!" He ben non, ici c'est une planche à pain... Assez similaire à un bricolage que j'ai fait en maternelle pour ma maman...

Mais bon, pour 1.5 euros, je n'ai eu qu'à vernir le bois, mettre la toile sur un carton, coller le tout sur le bois avec des décos "citrouilles" en bois, et le tour est joué !

Maintenant il est sur le mur de ma cuisine.

Chiloe, en matière de boutiques, j'ai pas grand chose dans le coin, ou elles se cachent. la boutique de samedi était quasi que des beaux arts, alors ca n'aide pas pour le textile. Il y a bien Mondial textiles près du boulot, mais c'est surtout du tissu, et du fil anchor !!! Bon....

Autumn Harvest finished !

Well, there isn't much else to say... Except that you see I didn't stitch the alphabeth, and I added my name and date in the same cross stitch style (instead of the usual backstitch sign).

I think I will turn it into a frame or a cushion, I'm not sure yet...

Now I will stitch an Halloween Mill Hill kit I had for a long time...

Ben voilà, il est fini... Il n'y a pas grand chose à en dire à part que j'ai enlevé l'alphabet et ajouté mon nom et date en point de croix plutôt que le petit signe en point arrière.

Je ne sais pas encore ce que je vais en faire, un coussin ou un cadre...

More autumn stuff

This is Autumn Harvest so far. It wom't be finished before tomorrow, when Mom and I go for the long trip to Alexandra Palace.

Leaving at 6am in Lille to be there at opening time at 10am, we will be back from the UK to France in the evening. I'm tired already !!!

I hope I will enjoy the expo... I could play treasure hunt and try and find some tatting in there, but I really doubt it.

I will take some tatting to pass the time in the car I think. I guess I will also have a bit of stitching.

After Autumn harvest I will stitch... I don't know ;)

Annie, the tatted pumpkin is way too big for a brooch, I was thinking about something like sewing it on felt or something...

moman et moi prendrons la route à 6h du mat de Lille pour arriver au coeur de Londres à 10h et rentrer en France le soir même. ca c'est l'Europe !!! mais ça fatigue rien que d'y penser...

J'espère que l'expo sera sympa, je pourrais jouer à la chasse aux trésors pour trouver de la frivolité, mais je pense que ca sera peine perdue.

En attendant, moi j'en aurai dans mon sac pour le voyage en voiture, avec un peu de broderie aussi.

I seem to have lost everybody over the week end... I hope it's just because you are stitching for hours, making ornaments and such... and not because you worry about all the crisis stuff.

Today is the first day of October, and it means... "The Gift of Cross Stitching", and this month it's really good, with stitchers from Victoria Sampler and such...

More things for my to do list, oh no !!!

With my JCS Ornaments magazine came "Autumn harvest" from little House Needleworks. So I started it on Monday, on cream/yellow linen I got at the expo last week. It's nice to stitch. And if you check the picture on the side, you will notice that I left out the ABC....

Aujourd'hui est le début d'octobre, et donc la sortie de Gift of Cross Stitching, et ce mois-ci c'est très beau, il y a même un sampler de brodeuses de Victoria Sampler.

J'ai commencé lundi Autumn harvest de Little House Needlework que j'ai recu avec le JCS Ornaments la semaine dernière.

Brodé sur lin crème/jaune (de l'expo de Lille), c'est très agréable à faire ! Les plus observateurs auront remarqué que j'avais enlevé l'abécédaire du projet.... Bon ben je voyais pas trop pourquoi je devais faire toutes ces lettres ! Donc voilà...

Busy Needle finally finished !!!

He oui, enfin fini ce petit projet qui aurait du prendre 2 jours... Et qui a finalement pris 2 mois !!!

Au départ, je voulais mettre ça sur une pochette, mais j'en ai déjà tant...

En fait, c'est mon grand problème du moment. Pourquoi broder si c'est pour mettre la toile après dans un tiroir? Il y a déjà tant de projets dans ce tiroir...

Et évidemment, comme je ne me sens pas vraiment d'humeur à remettre les cadres brodés aux murs... ça n'arrange pas les choses, n'est-ce pas ? ;)

En attendant, nous pouvons louer les services de Twisted Thread. J'ai commandé des tickets pour Alexandra Palace jeudi dernier, et ils étaient dans la boite aux lettres en rentrant de week end...

Je vois déjà la question du jour: que vais-je faire maintenant? Surprise !!!

Busy needle is finally finished !!! This small project was supposed to be 2 days work tops, but it took 2 months !!!

At first I wanted to turn it into a pouch, but I already have a few... Actually, this is my main problem. Why stitch stuff to put in cupboards? My are already full. Plus i don't want to put my frames up on the walls...

Anyway, Twisted Thread is really quick, I already have my tickets for Alexandra Palace !!!

And what about what I will stitch next? Surprise...
