And the finished piece is....

A phone bag ! I made it big enough to slip the smartphone in a hard protection thingy. So the purpose of the pouch isn't to protect the phone, but to make it look pretty, and to be able to hang it on a chair or wherever. I get a "waouh" effect each time I take my phone from my bag, because nobody has ever seen something like this.

The pattern is simply 6 petals flowers made with one shuttle, and with a bead at the base of each ring. Link the flowers to one another as you go. The handle is a sucession of split rings. And voilà !

Now I'm playing around with other motifs that would make other sort of pouches...

I was in a  no crafting zone and then I felt like tatting again. Must be all those lovely blog posts I keep reading.

So here is what I've done since last week end. Many beaded one shuttle flowers linked together. To what purpose? Keep on watching... And in the meantime, feel free to guess  and write in the comments !

Coming soon: beaded animals

When you stitch a big project, frog a bit of it, don't stitch much anyway, there isn't much to show or tell. Remember how enthousiastic I was about stitching at the beginning of the month, with so many projects to make, etc.... That was until I looked at the file where I archived the stitched pieces I didn't hang on the walls or gave away. So many stitched fabrics just put in an album... for nothing ! And if you count the 288 something stitched things I made in my life, you understand my discouragement : why bother?

The mini Pluto charm is always on my phone, so it's no problem for it, but a big project that can only be framed (I already havetoo many cushions)... I don't think I need to stitch it as fast as a sewing machine ;)

I wonder what are you thoughs about it, especially the long time stitchers out there with walls filled with framed stitches....

Needless to say I spent more time reading and playing video games (Farmville 2 Country Escape, Hungry cat picross on Android, and Fantasy Life on 3DS)

Then yesterday I came across this great book about making beaded animals. If you follow my blog you know I made quite a few already. I had the first book a few years ago, and this one is even better !!!
I hesitated between buying it straight away or buying on Amazon, and ended up buying in the shop at the editor's price of 10 euros. After all, it couldn't be much cheaper on the web, and I didn't want to wait for the delivery. I had to check afterwards, and I realised how lucky my move was : only second hand available at 23 euros minimum !

Now I have to start beading....

Christmas in beads

Before we dive into the new year.... here is a picture of the Christmas scene I made with hama beads. I made the gingerbread house a few years ago, but the little characters were made on Christmas eve.

I don't craft much at the moment, I'm playing with "Fantasy Life" 3DS that Father Chistmas brought me, it's quite addictive.

A bead obsession

Holidays are just finished here, and we have a real November weather. Time to prepare for Christmas fairs, well, not quite!

So during the holidays I made all these little beaded characters.

I started with the bird on top, then the little doggies in the middle. I found the little cat on the right half finished in my work box. The mouse gnome on the right is the most challenging of all, with a hat, arms and legs, and all! I'm glad how the little girl turned out, it makes me want to make some more!

But then I had to hunt for flesh coloured beads in shops,and I can tell you that around here, beads are hard to find! But I finally did. The problem is you can't be too choosy with the colours, I will have to see the internet can help in there....

And on the second picture you can see two bears.

Les vacances sont finies, et je les ai passées à faire ces petits bonshommes en perles. J'ai commencé avec l'oiseau au dessus, puis les petits chiens du milieu, et j'ai retrouvé le chat de droite à moitié fini dans ma boite à ouvrages. La souris est la plus complexe, car elle a même un chapeeau, des membres et tout ça. Et le dernier a été la petite fille. Et j'ai bien envie d'en refaire encore, et donc j'ai du partir en chasse pour trouver des perles couleur chair.

J'en ai trouvé, mais les perles de rocailles sont dures à trouver, et surtout on n'a pas trop le choix des couleurs. Il faudra que j'aille voir du côté du net....

Back to beading

One Christmas market to go, and then it will be time to think about setting up the tree and Christmas decorations at home.

And in the spirit of Christmas, I wanted to play with sparkles. And what is more shiny than beads?

I first made the tree, then one angel, a second, a third.... and I feel like making an army of them. Aren't they cute?

Et avec Noel, j'ai envie de trucs qui brillent... et les perles semblaient parfaites pour ça. J'ai d'abord fait le sapin, puis les petits anges. J'ai envie de faire une armée de ces anges. Ne sont-ils pas mignons?

Oya necklaces

After knitting, I had a "crochet with beads" phase, so I made these 3 necklaces. I had real fun coming up with the patterns, making test swatches and such....

The first one is in green thread, perlé 12, with a floral mood.

The second one, with dark grey perlé 8, has a more gothic feel to it, while the third in aqua and grey is more like jewellery.

These necklaces are nice and fast to make, if you can crochet with a very tiny hook. The most fastidious is to string all the beads at the beginning.

Beaded animals

I recently bought a cute book, "japanese miniature beaded animals", it's a French translation of a German book and possibly a translation from Japanese. One thing for sure, it's a japanese method of stringing beads on nylon thread, and you get 3D animals. But they are tiny tiny !!!

So I made a chick, a bunny and a kitten. And of course I intend to make more !!!

J'ai récemment acheté le livre "Animaux miniatures japonais en perles". C'est une méthode japonaise d'enfiler les perles sur un fil de nylon en croisant, et cela donne des formes en 3D, mais avec des perles de rocaille, c'est mini mini !!!

Pour commencer, j'ai fait un chaton, un lapin et un piou piou, mais je ne compte pas m'arrêter là !!!

Necklaces and a scrunchie

This week I started work, and I'm sick (sinusitis, conjonctivitis and tonsillitis all at once?), so I made a few things, but didn't blog. As I slept a lot... I can't do all !

First, a scrunchie. I thinkt these are neat. Can't find those in shops, and scrunchies are a must for people with long hair. And many wear them in their wrist half the time, so... Needs to be pretty !

Then I made 2 necklaces. I finally found a necklace holder in a shop for commercial people. I found quite a few nice things for Christmas fairs as well. I'll have to go again closer to december ;)

Cette semaine j'ai commencé à travailler, malgré une sinusite, conjonctivite et angine. Oui, il faut le faire. Du coup j'ai fait quelques trucs, mais je n'ai pas encore bloggé.

Tout d'abord un chouchou fleuri. Des fleurs assemblées autour d'un élastique, et hop, dans les cheveux, ou au poignet comme font pas mal de gens aussi.

Et 2 colliers, mis sur mon nouveau présentoir acheté pas loin dans un magasin pour pros. Il ont pas mal de trucs bien pour le marché de Noel, il faudra que j'y retourne à l'approche de décembre...

Crochet experimentations

I really enjoy making those beaded crochet things and borders. I made a very long border in green thread and purple beads to sew on a tshirt.

And I made little motifs, 2 bells and a butterfly, but they don't look very nice.

J'adore faire du crochet avec des perles, et j'ai fait une longue bordure pour un tshirt avec du fil vert et des perles mauves. Ensuite j'ai fait 2 cloches et un papillon, mais je ne suis pas convaincue quant au résultat.



I love making crocheted flowers, and I have loads of patterns here and there. I tried many of them, creating a lot of lone flowers I haven't used for anything, but I can't remember what pattern they are related to. So I decided to make a book of flowers, with the patterns I like, and the thread version stuck next to it. This will serve as reference book as I would like to try crochet jewellery. Originally I wanted to do tatted jewellery, but I'm more comfortable with crochet at the moment.

J'adore faire des fleurs en crochet, et j'ai plein de modèles un peu partout. J'ai crocheté plein de fleurs, qui restent seules dans une boite, mais je ne me souviens pas du modèle utilisé. Du coup j'ai commencé ce cahier où je mets la grille et la version en fil juste à côté. Cela me servira de référence pour mes futures créations en bijoux. Au départ je voulais utiliser de la frivolité, mais je suis plus à l'aise avec le crochet en ce moment...

And while I was browsing around, I came across this very neat japanese blog full of free patterns, "Crochet a little". So I started with this owl motif, isn't it cute?

Enfin, j'ai trouvé ce super blog japonais, "Crochet a little", plein de motifs de crochet, et j'ai déjà fait ce petit hibou. N'est-il pas tout mimi?

Crochet and beads borders

In the spirit of trying yet another craft (or deviation, merge of 2 known crafts), here are borders made in crochet, with beads. Last month I bought this lovely book, and I only try now ! The editor has made this video, so you'll be able to see it up close. Obviously, my book is in French, for once I got it in a shop (and not the web).

And here what I made so far : 

And the funniest is that I found a blog with someone who has done exactly the same as me, but a few days earlier : The blog with no name.

I need ideas where to put borders here and there.... These 2 samples are big enough to decorate mini eggs for Easter.

Dans l'esprit "essayons de nouvelles techniques", voici des bordures en crochet et perles. D'accord, c'est plutôt une fusion de techniques connues, mais bon...

Regardez la video ci-dessus afin de voir le livre que j'ai acheté (en français au magasin cette fois). J'ai déjà essayé deux modèles, qui sont assez courts car je compte les mettre sur des mini oeufs pour Paques. 

Le plus drôle est que Roussette de The blog with no name a fait quasiment pareil que moi, mais quelques jours avant !!!

Pourtant, je manque d'idées pour utiliser cette nouvelle technique qui est si agréable à faire... Alors n'hésitez pas à me donner les vôtres !!!

The latest things, and start of a big project

It seems very difficult to post these days, maybe because computer time is spent on Cityville, and the rest actually crafting.

On the beading front, I made an Android tag. DBF is an Xperia Play addict (it's a smartphone under Android, with a PSP like control pad for games), so I thought he could use this tag somewhere. I still have to sew it somewhere, on the phone pouch or something....

Apparently I have difficulties having straight borders when needle weaving beads.
Our little niece is very much into bead weaving. It appears that she didn't sell her beading loom, so she was able to show her skills to grandma once at home. But then I got a slightly panicked phone call from dear mother in law asking me where I found my loom, because dear niece broke hers on the second use. Luckily, these looms are available almost everywhere, but they seem to break easily ;)

Now I came back to crochet. I started with this cute ice cream cone that I designed myself. I mean, sun, summer.... ice cream !!!!

And now.... the big project. I've been toying around with granny squares for a while. There's a sort of fascination here. On one end, some squares are really beautiful, and on the other hand, you often have old quitch afghans.
Not to mention that to make an afghan, it's long, and requires quite a bit of yarn. And I wasn't sure DBF would like something granny looking in the living room. But then I was saved by.... "Little house on the prairie". Yes, the old tv show. Believe it or not, we watch one episode a day, and it's been like that for 3 years or so. DBF is addicted.

And so he thinks it's a great idea to have a pionner looking throw to curl up in for the winter. And so I started crocheting.....

Originally I wanted something with less colours, but DBF said it had to be multicoloured, made with odd yarns, and so I'm surprised it looks so good so far. I don't know how many squares I will need, so we'll see the beast grow and grow....

Bizarrement, j'ai du mal a trouver du temps pour poster, alors que je fais pas mal de créations. Ca doit être aussi le temps passé sur Cityville....


Tout d'abord, au niveau des perles, j'ai fait un petit tag Android pour DBF, qui est fou de son Xperia Play ( un smartphone avec un pad de jeu), et donc il pourra mettre le tag où il veut, sur la pochette du téléphone ou autre....


Pour une raison inconnue, je n'arrive pas à avoir des bords droits quand je tisse les perles à l'aiguille.
La nièce de DBF est encore en plein avec son métier à tisser. Car quand on a demandé à la maman, elle a dit que le métier soit disant vendu était en fait remisé dans le garage. Et donc elle a voulu montrer ses talents de tisseuse à sa grand mère, en vacances là bas, mais mamy m'a appelée paniquée car le métier s'était cassé, et elle voulait savoir où ça s'achetait ! Heureusement qu'on en trouve partout, mais les métiers à perles Disney princesses ne semblent pas solides....


Je suis revenue au crochet. J'ai commencé avec ce petit amigurumi glace. Soleil, été... glace !!!!


Et maintenant, je suis embarquée dans un grand projet. Ca fait un moment que je tourne autour des "granny squares". D'un côté je les trouve jolis, et d'un autre vous aurez vous aussi des souvenirs d'horribles couvertures en crochet dans les tons marrons bien style années 70. Donc commencer un truc que je ne pourrais pas mettre dans le living... pas top.


Mais voilà que j'ai été sauvée par... "La petite maison dans la prairie". La série, qui passe d'ailleurs toujours sur M6 et Téva. DBF est fou de cette série, et on a droit à un épisode par jour, et ce demuis 3 ans déjà (vive les dvds). Et donc il trouve que c'est une chouette idée d'avoir une couverture style "petite maison" pour se réchauffer dans le canapé l'hiver.


Au départ, je voulais quelque chose de plus sobre, avec moins de couleurs, mais DBF a insisté pour que ce soit plein de couleurs, en utilisant des restes de laine comme à l'époque. Et donc je suis assez surprise que cela rende si bien pour l'instnat, pas trop "arlequin".


On verra donc grandir cette couverture, je ne sais pas encore combien de carrés il me faudra !!!

More beads but different techniques

I'm still in full beads mode. I made this lovely goldfish, it's the incarnation of japanese things. Very asian.

On Monday DBF's niece was there again, so I initiated her to loom beading. And this time it took her 5 minutes to get it (while I had to finish the bird last time), and now she wants a loom for Christmas. She had a loom before, but apparently nobody took time to show her how to use it, so she sold it.

I designed an Hello Kitty inspired bracelet on squared paper, because none of the patterns I had were narrow enough.

I discovered this website, Kandi Patterns, and I made this Hello Kitty tag in peyote stitch. There's plenty of great patterns over there. I'm making an Android tag for DBF now.

Je suis toujours en plein dans les perles. J'ai fait un poisson rouge, ça fait très asiatique.


Lundi la mièce de DBF était à nouveau là, du coup je l'ai mise au métier à tisser les perles. Elle voulait faire un bracelet, alors j'ai du faire une petite grille avec Hello Kitty sur papier quadrillé. En 5 minutes, elle a pigé le truc. J'aurais du vraiment commencer par là, au lieu d'essayer des petits oiseaux en perles croisées !!!!! Du coup elle veut un métier à tisser les perles pour Noel, alors qu'elle en avait déjà eu un, mais comme personne ne lui a expliqué comment faire, elle a rien compris et l'a revendu !!!


Sinon, j'ai découvert le site Kandi Patterns, et j'ai fait ce petit tag Hello Kitty en point peyote. Il y a plein d'autres grilles sur ce site, en ce moment je fais un petit Android pour DBF....

More beaded critters

Last week DBF's 11 years old niece fell in love with the little beaded animals I made previously, and she wanted to make one too. So on Wednesday, when her 6 years old brother was playing "war" with DBF (the old fashion kind, with plastic soldiers, not video games), we made the little blue bird.

If you ever used seed beads, you know how fiddly they can be. So I opted for 4mm toupee beads and this pattern. I made a practice bird the day before (the purple one), and timed myself at 2 hours. Because, of course, the project had to take less than an afternoon, and as the other beaded things took me several days.... It was a brainer.

We managed to make our birds during the afternoon, even if I ended up making half of hers, and I used some air drying clay to stuff the inside, as I don't have big enough beads, and I didn't want a squishy bird.

On Thursday I made the beaded cat, sans bead inside, and it is a little squishy. Better not touch it too much ;)

And finally yesterday and today I made this little mouse in seed beads.

La semaine dernière la nièce de 11 ans de DBF est tombée sur mes petits animaux en perles, et évidemment a voulu les mêmes. Et donc mercredi, pendant que son frère de 6 ans et DBF jouaient à la guerre (de la façon traditionnelle, avec des petits soldats en plastique, pas des jeux videos), on a fait un petit oiseau bleu en suivant ce modèle, en perles toupies 4mm.


Si vous avez déjà travaillé avec des perles de rocailles, vous savez comme cela peut devenir vite galère. Et avec un temps limité.... c'est mission impossible. Donc j'ai fait un oiseau essai, le mauve, la veille, et ça m'a quand même pris 2h. Donc jouable en un après midi.


J'ai mis de l'argile qui sèche à l'air dans les oiseaux, car je n'ai pas de bille assez grande, et on ne veut pas d'un oiseau écrabouillable. D'ailleurs, le chat que j'ai fait hier n'en a pas, mais en théorie personne ne viendra le déranger.


Et enfin, j'ai fait une petite souris. Ce qui a pris 2 jours quand même ;)

Lady in rose, bunny style

I didn't craft much lately, and so it took me nearly a week to make this little bunny girl. Ok, it's quite a fiddly and detailled little thing, but still....
When I showed my little tiger to my grandma, she was very impressed, She said it was like a little jewel.

It compensates my failures in knitting size. For Mother's day, I ma de the teapot cosy too small, and this time, for Father's day, the zipper of the ipad pouch is too narrow, so I had to take the thing back, and I have to put a longer zipper. Hum..... it was ok without the zipper....

Je n'ai pas bricolé beaucoup ces derniers temps, du coup j'ai mis presque une semaine pour finir cette petite fille lapin. Enfin, il faut dire que c'est le plus complexe et détaillé que j'aie fait jusqu'à présent, du coup ça prend plus de temps.


Quand j'ai montré mon petit tigre à ma grand mère, elle a trouvé ça super, comme un bijou.


Ca compense mes échecs tricots au niveau de la taille. Après le couvre théière trop petit pour la fête des mères, la tirette de la pochette d'ipad de la fête des pères est trop courte pour que l'engin entre, alors que sans tirette, ça passe bien. Du coup j'ai du reprendre la pochette, et je dois remettre une tirette plus grande....

Beaded tiger

I keep having fun making those little beaded creatures. This little tiger is made as a charm for my bag, because I'm tiger in Chinese horoscope. And I just love tigers ;)

J'ai toujours autant de plaisir à faire ces petites créatures en perles. J'ai fait ce petit tigre pour mettre sur mon sac, car c'est mon signe en horoscope chinois, et j'adore les tigres !

Beaded bunnies

Beaded birds : and now something totally different

This week wasn't too much fun, as we got locked out of the flat on Wednesday, and we had to sleep over at my parents one night, and it took 2 days to repair the lock. Super secure locks aren't always the best... ;)

So I started making little critters in beads. I came across some great patterns from Asia, and the technique is way better than the books I have. I have loads of seed beads since ages, so I'm glad to have a reason to use them !

First I made this tiny (1.5cm?) yellow bird, you can find the pattern here. But I know, it's really really tiny..... So I made the blue one, and now it starts to look like something.... I'll be able to put it on my bag....

Cette semaine a été éprouvante, car nous sommes retrouvés bloqués en dehors de l'appartement à cause d'une clef coincée, du coup on a du dormir chez mes parents, et cela a pris deux jours pour réparer. Ah, les joies des portes blindées et des serrures ultra sécurisées !


Enfin, I commencé à faire des petits personnages en perles. Comme j'ai énormément de perles collectionnées depuis des années, je suis contente de pouvoir les utiliser. 


Le minuscule oiseau jaune (1.5cm) vient de ce site.  C'est un petit entrainement, car il est pas super top. J'ai ensuite fait l'oiseau bleu, à partir d'un livre asiatique, et là, ça dit quand même autre chose, je vais pouvoir l'accrocher à mon sac !

Beaded tatting

Just like I said yesterday, I used beads in my tatting projects yesterday.

First, I made a bracelet. I couldn't find a pattern I like, so I just made it up. It's also my first attempt at jewellery making, and I like it. I might try necklaces and more....

And I also made a Christmas tree, from a Be Stitched pattern. I added beads, and changed colour as well !

Comme je l'avais dit hier, j'ai fait de la frivolité avec des perles incluses.

Tout d'abord, j'ai fait ce bracelet. Comme je ne trouvais pas de modèle qui me plaisait, je l'ai créé de toutes pièces. C'est aussi la première fois que je fais des bijoux, et j'aime ça. Je sens que je vais essayer des colliers, etc....

Et j'ai aussi fait ce sapin avec un modèle de Be Stitched, et j'ai ajouté des perles, changé de couleur, bref... le fun !
