The tansy fairy

Well, I was right not to say bye for now... yet. This is the proof that the project you are working on is very important to your progress.

After finishing the dragon and deciding to put the Halloween Fairy on hold, I decided to start the Tansy Fairy. This is a very old DMC kit, one of the first Flower Fairies. So old they made a second version of this fairy ! (this is the greeting card version).

I carried this kit around "just in case I finish the holiday project" for years. I thought it was time to stitch it for itself. A cute fairy stitching... what else do we want?

Comme quoi j'avais raison de ne pas fermer le blog tout de suite... voici une preuve de l'influence du projet sur la vitesse de broderie.

Après avoir fini le dragon et décidé d'abanonner (pour l'instant) l'Halloween fairy, j'ai commencé la "Tansy fairy", qui st un vieux kit DMC. Si vieux que cette fée a été refaite dans un nouveau kit !

Et je me suis promenée avec ce kit des années, vu que je le réservais pour le cas où j'aurais fini mes projets de vacances. Mais là, j'ai vraiment eu envie de la broder, donc voilà...

A finished dragon

This is probably my last ost in a while. I'm definatly not motivated to stitch, especially the Hallween fairy (difficult colours and fabric...), so I finished my little dragon over here.

Life is a bit hectic, I move in 2 days to no-internet land (hopefully I will be connected on the 18th), andI start work on Monday.

I know I might have been a bit confusing but I'm going to Belgium, around Charleroi (if anybody knows LNS in the area... give me a sign !!!)

So, back to the dragon... I really like that little guy, so I think I will put it on my laptop bag (a very traditional case, I took the cheapest or so).

Ceci est certainement mon dernier message avant un bout de temps. Dans deux jours je déménage en Belgique (Charleroi, si vous connaissez des boutiques dans le coin...) où je n'aurai pas d'internet avant au moins le 18. Et je commence le boulot lundi. J'appréhande toujours un peu de conduire ici, et plein de choses sont déstabilisantes, mis c'est la vie !

Donc voici mon petit dragon enfin fini. Je l'adore, et je pense le mettre sur ma sacoche de portable, qui est si basique (j'ai quasiment pris la moins chère...)

Sinon, Daniela m'a donné un "I love your blog" award, mais comme je n'ai pas le temps de choisir 7 personnes dans les centaines que je lis, considerez-vous choisies si vous voulez continuer la chaine.

Where is my mind?

First, the new computer (which was 50 euros cheaper in the supermarket next door, so I got that difference back) and video games make it difficult to craft... so no pics !!! Not t to find o mention all the wandering about... Yesterday I was training for driving over here by going to a LNS 20min from here, and it ended up being mostly stuff for bras.

The halloween fairy is a nightmare to start: I looked everywhere but couldn't find the right fabric, or my needles ! I know I organised them all before I went, but I suppose they got packed for the move instead of coming with me. These aren't too much of a problem, I got them at La maison en tissu.

But I'm still not clear for the metallics... Either I do a challenge thing and use DMC metallics and threads, or I try to find Madeira equivalent (eqsier to use), or order the Kreinik. I hate working with metallics, so... I'd rather not pay 20 euros for them. But I finally started it, and I might wait until the expo mid-september to see what they have before deciding.

Mon ordi tout neuf et les jeux videos (ainsi que les balades) font que je ne brode pas vraiment... du coup, pas de photo.

Comme on a trouve mon ordi 50euros moins cher au supermarche d'en face, je me suis fait rembourser la difference, youhou !

Hier je me suis aussi entrainée à rouler en France en allant dans une mercerie au fin fond du Nord trouvée sur le web, pour malheureusement n'y trouver que des attaches pour soutifs !!!

Sinon, la Halloween Fairy est dure au démarrage: je me suis rendue compte que je n'avais pris ni la bonne toile, ni mes aiguilles (pourtant réorganisées par taille et tout ça avant de partir). Heureusement la Maison en Tissu a remédié à ça.

Par contre, je ne sais pas encore ce que je vais faire pour les fils métalliques. Soit je dépense 20 euros en commande à Sew and So pour avoir les fils Kreink recommandés (mais je n'aime pas utiliser ces fils), soit j'essaye de trouver du Madeira (moins cher et plus souple) soit je bidouille avec les métalliques de DMC et du cotton car pas de métallique de la bonne couleur.

Ou je laisse tomber le métallique pour du fil en coton car je déteste travailler en métallique... J'attendrai surement l'expo de Lille mi Septembre pour me décider....

Webcam test

New laptop means... loads of fiddling about with it, and no stitching... you know how it is...

These pictures are a bit small because I used my webcam to take them at an angle... but they aren't blurry, so... ;)

Anyway, last week I worked on the dragon of Hope, and it's progressing nicely. I love the colours...

And yesterday I finished this beaded snowflake which ended up very fiddly for me... I think I didn't use the proper beads from one or the other shuttle, and ended up with barely enough beads to finish. And it was a good thing I put extra beads on the threads (you need to put the right number of beads on the thread of the shuttles before starting the work, as you can't add anymore afterwards. It requires proper counting of the beads, but it means you can do bead work on the go without fear of loosing them !).

Anyway, I will have to block it seriously, I'm aware it's a bit "3D"...

Now is time to start the Halloween fairy (if you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the picture in the sidebar on the left)

Hier j'ai eu mon nouvel ordi portable, et vous savez ce que ca veut dire... pas de broderie, et beaucoup de bricolage sur l'ordi... D'ailleurs les photos ici sont prises avec ma webcam, c'est pour ça qu'elles sont un peu petites.

Tout d'abord il y a le "Dragon of Hope" qui avance petit à petit...j'adore ses couleurs en tout cas.

Puis nous avons un flocon en frivolité et perles qui m'a donné du fil à retordre. Je me suis certainement trompée dans le nombre de perles à enfiler au depart sur les deux navettes, car malgré l'extra que j'ai ajouté, je suis tombée à court. Mais bon, c'est pas si grave.

(Il faut enfiler les perles sur le fil des navettes avant de commencer, donc il faut le bon nombre ou on ne peut pas les ajouter après. C'est une limitation, mais cela permet de faire des trucs en perles n'importe où sans crainte de les perdre !)

Sinon ce flocon est un peu "3D", il va falloir serieusement le bloquer avant utilisation...

Et maintenant il est temps de commencer l'Halloween fairy que vous pouvez voir dans la barre de gauche...

Lutine, je n'ai pas encore déménagé... pour l'instant, je suis en vacances en France, mes affaires arriveront en Belgique samedi en 8... je sais, c'est très compliqué, ça fait planter les ordis, comme celui de Belgacom (pour avoir l'internet, telephone et tv), car être française, venir de l'Angleterre vers la Belgique, c'est loin d'êter simple !!! ;)

France here we go

After a very long drive from England to France, chores to do yesterday like signing for the new flat and all... Here I am from my brand new laptop.

This is very important for me, as I've been dreaming of this day for months.

Not much crafting, the only thing I finished was a blue tatted angel, but I gave it to my grandma yesterday before taking a picture, so... it will have to wait a while.

Today I got Kim's package with the halloween fairy from CrossStitch and Needlework, I'm so excited !!! Now I know what I will start very soon...

Après la longue route en voiture de samedi (Angleterre à la France), et les devoirs de hier comme signer le bail de mon nouvel appart, j'ai réalisé mon rêve de plusieurs mois: un ordi portable tout neuf !!!

En plus vous pouvez admirer l'apparition des accents, vu que c'est un ordi français.

Je n'ai pas fait beaucoup de bricolages, le seul truc que j'ai fini est un ange bleu en frivolité que j'ai donné à ma grand mère hier sans avoir pris la photo !!! bah, ca sera pour plus tard...

Aujourd'hui j'ai aussi reçu le paquet de Kim, avec le Cross Stitch and Needlework qui a le Halloween fairy.... je sens que je vais le commencer très très vite...

More dragons !!

Looks like we are hitting the very slow period of summer when everybody is gone on holiday.... But let's show some picutres anyway.

First we have the very challenging dragon. The pattern is coming from Nuperelle's website, so you can make your own.

Ok, so it already looks complicated, lots of rings and chains, but for me it also meant learning how to make split rings, both with one and 2 shuttles. It's a bit fiddly, I had to try a few times, but there you go !

Then in the evening I made that little snowflake that looks like a flower, and I'm quite glad I managed to make my picots (the little loops all around the motif) the same size.

Some of you will ask.. where is stitching ? Well... it's true I'm a bit out of it. But experience has shown that even if I have a certain time with another craft, I always come back to it. I plan on starting a fairy and making more inchies, biscornus and all once the packing is done. And mostly on holiday next week.

The thing is with all the move preparations, I rarely sit down properly and start stitching. It's a lot easier to take the shuttles for a minute and progress. I get disconnected from the internet tomorrow, and we travel on Saturday, it's going to be an hectic time !!!!

Il semblerait que nous atteignions la periode tres creuse de l'ete, ou tout le monde est parti. D'ailleurs, comme demain ils deconnectent l'internet, le telephone et la tele, et qu'on voyage vers la France samedi, je vais aussi disparaitre un petit peu.

Mais en attendant, voici un dragon qui m'a donne du fil a retordre, car j'ai du apprendre les "slit rings" avec une et deux navettes. Apres quelques essais, ca a ete. Mais il faut dire que rien qu'a l'aspect, on voit que c'est complexe ;)

Apres ca, j'ai fait un flocon qui ressemble a une fleur, et le challenge ici etait de faire les picots de la meme taille. Donc j'en suis assez fiere.

Dans tout ca, vous allez me demander "Et la broderie?". Si vous me lisez depuis un bout de temps, vous savez que j'aime essayer beaucoup de techniques, mais je reviens toujours a la broderie... J'ai d'ailleurs un projet de fee, des inchies et des biscornus. Mais pour l'instant, dans ma mise en cartons, j'ai rarement le temps de m'installer comme il faut pour broder, c'est bien plus simpe de prendre mes navettes 5min pour faire quelque chose... Mais bon... plus tard !!!

2 snowflakes

Not much to say... I'm packing and packing boxes, and I made 2 snowflakes on Sunday and yesterday. Packing isn't really fun, as we tend to pack to much and loose things... plus the clutter factor... oh well....

Pas grand chose a dire, vu qu'on empaquete activement, ce qui cause des problemes de trucs perdus (dans les cartons deja...) et un encombrement de la maison... Mais j'ai quand meme fait 2 flocons.

J'ai mis a jour mon site, avec un post sur la frivolite aussi....

Suddently ... pictures ;)

After a long time of "what do I want to stitch ?", I took Cinderella for a little row of crosses, then I decided to stitch "Dragon of Hope, a freebie from Dragon Dreams I meant to stitch for a long time now.

I decided to use a purple fabric my friend Kim hand dyed herself, close to the colours of the stitching, but still quite different to see the stitches. Plus I love that colour of fabric...

For the moment it's a bit of a blob, but the Earth is already finished.

I also finished a big tatted snowflake. Well, bigger than the others, but the picture is still life size. I forgot to join a few times, so I had to add pieces of threads here and there... but who will know ?

And finally here is an inchy I made earlier this week, but I only put the back fabric and the eyelet yesterday. 4 leaves, a few crosses and 2 beads in the middle... And it's so small I was able to put a mobile thingy on it !!!! Incredible...

On Thursday, only a week before going away from England, I was in Waitrose, and what did I see? Altoid boxes ! I will have to stock up... But that means I will have to find tutorials to decorate them on Focus on Finishing...

Apres un certain temps de "que vais-je broder?" j'ai decide de broder "dragon of Hope", un freebie de Dragon Dreams. Ca fait un bout de temps que je voulais le broder, donc voila !

J'ai choisi une toile que mon amie Kim a teinte elle-meme, en mauve/bleu... Les couleurs sont proches mais assez eloignees de la couleur des fils pour faire un peu ton sur ton...

Pour l'instant, la terre est faite, et une partie du dragon... c'est sympa a faire !

J'ai aussi fini un grand flocon en frivolite (grand par rapport aux autres), et j'ai oublie de joindre une paire de fois, donc il y a des bouts de fils en plus, mais qui le remarquera?

Enfin, voici une photo d'un inchy que j'ai fait dans la semaine, mais je n'ai fait l'arriere et l'oeilleton qu'hier. C'est assez petit pour mettre un attache de portable...

Sinon, le comble, une semaine avant de quitter l'Angleterre, je decouvre des boites Altoids au supermarche de la vieille ville (ou je ne vais jamais). Je vais devoir faire provision !!!! Et aller voir s'il y a des tutos pour les decorer....

Alive and Stitchin Fingers

Toujours vivante... mais trop occupee pour crafter la plupart du temps. On a ete a Londres hier, et explore des endroits qu'on ne connaissait pas, alors vous voyez le topo... J'espere avoir plus de temps et d'energie pour crafter ce week end...

These days I walk around with the Busy Needle project, small and nice, in my bag, wherever I go. hence the creases on it.

This thread pack is a gift from Pink Canary for my birthday, and I chose a lilac fabric, just because it's my favourite colour.

Of course, because of all the sorting things out and packing, I will have less time to craft... so... you know the drill... ;)

Un peu de point de croix pour changer... voici Busy Needle, que Pink Canary m'a envoye pour mon anniv.

Comme je me trimballe partout avec, il est un peu chiffonne... et il n'avance pas vite ;)

J'ai choisi une toile lilas, car j'aime la couleur, pas de pensees complexes....

Chiloe, je purge mes affaires de broderie et tout ca de temps en temps. Car j'essaye pas mal de trucs que j'abandonne apres, et que une piece entiere c'est bien trop. Enfin, je garde les essentiels quand meme... Mais les magazines sont jetes apres avoir pris les grilles que je garde, etc...

Mais ici je parlais des trucs que je garde avec moi, que je prends dans ma voiture, et que je ne mets pas en boite pour les demenageurs !!!! Et ca, c'est un sacre tri, de deviner ce que je vais faire dans le futur proche... ;)

Snowflake and biscornu

Yesterday I got the boxes for my move... and I have about a week to pack my whole house !!! And of course I will have to sort out the essential stitch elements to take with me in a suitcase... wouldn't that be fun....

I don't seem to be able to concentrate on anything in particular at the moment. I finished that snowflake (still from the same book), and I finished the biscornu. Problem with this... I feel it's a bit empty int he middle. Let's say it's a first attempt ;)

I progressed on "Busy Needle" at breakfast time, and I made a few stitches on the angel of stitching, and I made an inchy, but... I feel like starting a great project, I just don't know what. So until I'm totally sure what I want to concentrate on... I'm not trying anything big ;)

Hier j'ai eu les cartons pour mon demenagement... j'ai une semaine pour empaqueter, et evidemment, je dois trier ce que je garde avec moi question broderie et tout ca... Ca va etre drole... pas vraiment....

J'ai fini mon flocon en frivolite, et mon biscornu, qui me semble un peu vide... Bon, je ferai mieux la prochaine fois comme on dit...

J'ai du mal a me concentrer sur un projet particulier. J'ai bosse sur "Busy Needle" au petit dej, fait quelques points sur l'angel of crosstitching, fait un inchy, mais je sens que j'ai envie de quelques chose d'autre, seulement je ne sais pas quoi. Donc en attendant, je me refuse de me lancer dans un nouveau gros projet... ;)

Tag and biscornus

I'm in a streak of creativity, but low productivity... I suppose that the fact that I had to go to my old place of work to hand back my pass and such drained me and I slept all afternoon... So of course I spent less time crafting !!!!

I got influenced by you lot, making floss ring tags with eyelets in them... So I thought I could use eyelets in my inchies to make keyrings and other tag types. I used some fabric and double sided fuse thingy to hide the back.

I was glad to have Hobbycraft next door, because at first I didn't know how to use eyelets and on my first trip I only took the eyelets without the tool !!!

Then I decided to start a biscornu for Christmas, with beads, and without a pattern. So the picture shows you the state so far...

I also did a bit of tatting, but no picture yet !

Je suis en phase creative en ce moment, meme si le voyage au vieux boulot pour rendre mon pass m'a draineee, et donc j'ai dormi tout l'apres midi !!!

A force de voir les gens faire des tags pour anneaux a fils, j'ai voulu essayer, et j'ai pense que mettre un oeillet dans le petit inchy le transformerait en porte-clef ou equivalent...

J'ai mis un tissu a l'arriere pour cacher avec un truc double face pour les coller.

Apres, j'ai commence un biscornu pour Noel, avec plein de perles, mais sans suivre un modele.

Et finalement, j'ai fait un peu de frivolite, mais pas de photo aujourd'hui...

Inchy 2 - Ribbon embroidery

The good thing with inchies is that in just a few stitches, you have a nice "stamp". Yesterday I used ribbon embroidery. I have to say it's a good thing I didn't start ribbon embroidery with a real big project, because I felt the ribbons very difficult to work with, they don't quite do what they are supposed to do. But for something like here, randomness helps a little bit...

Tatting Chic, you were asking about inchies... They are mini pictures, just 1 inch by 1 inch. Some are making them in paper, some in fabric, it's really up to the "artist". I guess it would be too small to put tatting on, unless you use very fine thread...

La bonne chose avec les inchies, c'est qu'en quelques points, on a deja fini le "timbre". Ici j'ai essaye de la broderie aux rubans, ce qui n'a pas ete sans mal, vu que les rubans son difficiles a manipuler... Heureusement que ce n'etait qu'un essai, et pas un grand projet serieux !!!!

Tatted Christmas tree

Ah, the tree from Hell... Not only the twist and turns from the pattern are hard to follow, but I had to unpick re-make most of the tree, as I made so many mistakes along the way...

But in the end the tree turned out ok, so I'm happy ;)

Now I'm trying an edging... to put on one of my pouches !

Lutine, I still sleep at night, but being on holiday helps a lot with free time to do crafty things, and I think Igot the practice for speedy tatting.

About inchies. My first inchy was done without a pattern or anything. It's just a few stitches together. I think I will use that small format to experiment and try to design stuff.

I think I will keep my inchies in a sort of book. And I might try 2 inches instead of one for some things. I think they look like stamps, so if I keep making those, some would probably end up as sticker type of things... for decorating cards, bags, clothes, etc....

L'arbre de l'enfer.... non seulement l'explication est difficile a suivre, mais je me suis trompee une paire de fois (une paire du Nord = moultes fois). Mais j'ai reussi en fin de compte !

Maintenant je fais une bordure pour une de mes pochettes (je ne sais pas encore laquelle...)

Lutine, je dors quand meme, mais j'ai beaucoup de temps libre vu que je ne travaille pas en ce moment, et j'arrive enfin a faire de la frivolite avec une vitesse respectable...

Pour les inchies... Je n'ai pas utilise de modele pour mon premier inchy. J'ai juste fait quelques points sur un bout de toile. Je pense mettre mes petits carres dans un album, et utiliser ce format pour essayer de faire mes propres creations, comme des tests.

Et ca me fait penser a des timbres, ou des stickers, donc peut etre que certains pourraient servir de deco pour des cartes et autres trucs comme ca....

No tatting/stitching yesterday, so no picture... We went to London yesterday, walking for about 10 hours... We got so late we saw Soho/Covent Garden on Friday evening, cool !!!

flake and inch

Yet another snowflake... No major incident on this one, except I forgot to anchor the last ring to the first, and so I had to attach it with an extra piece of thread... But overall you can't really tell ;)

Now I'm tackling a more difficult project, a Christmas tree in green thread. For this one I'm using an Aero shuttle (with a bobbin inside, and a hook at one end) for the first time, and I love it !

By now some of you might be tired of tatting, so I have a different project to show, an "inchie".

After trading cards, people decided to go further and have projects one inch by one inch. I thought it would be a fun thing to do, and a good way of trying new stitches and such... so here is my first one !

The border is also hand stitched, and I cut the fabric close to it.

Annie, I think you can have pouches in just stitching fabric (aida or linen), without lining. The French shop "Loisirs et Creation" has a range of linen "ready to stitch" items, and they do have pouches like that... So you can totally do it !!!

Encore un flocon... celui-ci est sans grande catastrophe, a part le fait que j'ai oublie d'accrocher le dernier rond au premier, et donc j'ai du ajouter un bout de fil... Heureusement ca ne se voit pas trop !

Maintenant je bosse sur un sapin, en fil vert, avec ma nouvelle navette "Aero", qui a une bobine a l'interieur et un crochet au bout. C'est un vrai plaisir a utiliser.

Pour ceux qui en auraient marre de voir de la frivolite... J'ai aussi fait un "inchie". Vous connaissez surement les "trading cards", he bien certains ont change le format pour 1 inch sur 1 (environ 3cm?)

J'ai trouve que ce serait marrant d'essayer, et d'avoir une raison de jouer avec les differents points. Je suppose qu'apres je les mettrai dans un album ou quelque chose comme ca....
