Angel or no angel?

I think we will blame (or more likely thank) Zohrah for this. I think I will drop the wings. Why?

If you look at the Renaissance Lady I stitched in 2007, you will notice how the two ladies are similar in attitude and design. So I thought they would look lovely as a pair, facing eachother.

But I didn't notice, until Zohrah talked about the wings. If you place the two ladies together, the wings are obsolete, I can't have a lady and an angel, it would be weird !!!!

So Zohrah, you probably saved me hours of stitching, especially with all the metallics in there !!! Although I don't see any problem with the colours?

Bliss? I don't have any audio book, but I'm trying to learn flemish though.... ;)

Le commentaire de Zohrah à propos des ailes m'a fait réfléchir. Je comptais mettre l'ange à côté de la Renaissance Lady que j'ai brodé l'an dernier. Car elles sont si similaires dans leurs attitudes et style, sorte de hiver/printemps.

Seulement dans cette optique, les ailes de l'ange sont de trop !!!! Et je n'y avais pas pensé. Mais voilà qui va m'éviter des heures de broderie, surtout qu'il y a pas mal de métallique dans le lot !

Snow? in Belgium? is that possible?

At the moment I'm living in a driving nightmare. I now have to work 70km away from work, so driving time has passed from 15min to 50min -1h something. When the weather isn't bad, and traffic too heavy !

Of course, traffic and rain made me drive 2h15 to Lille on Friday, and snow made me do the way back in the same time, yesterday, and I had to leave early...

Yes, snow !!!! We never have snow, except for a day or so... It's a shame it came a month early, I doubt we have a snowy Christmas...

Anyway, here is the progress of the angel. of course the white of the fur is not really visible...

En ce moment, je vis dans un cauchemar de conduite automobile. Je dois désormais travailler à 70km de chez moi, et donc passer de 15min de voiture à minimum 50min.

Sans compter que j'ai fait la route vers Lille en 2h15 vendredi à la place de 1h15 à cause des bouchons et de la pluie, et pareil hier pour rentrer cette fois-ci à cause de la neige. Et en partant plus tôt !

La neige, ici, en novembre... ça arrive tellement... jamais?

Toujours est-il que voilà l'état de l'ange. On ne voit pas bien le blanc dans la fourrure, forcément....

First update of the winter angel

This is your usual "start in the middle, aim for the head and finish it" picture.

This is a Joan Elliott design from CrossStitcher October 2007, I had it in my to do list for a while. It's stitched on 14 count cloudy blue aida.

For some reason I don't feell like stitching ornaments, maybe because my tree is already full of them from my "orenaments year" three years ago. So I decided to just stitch something wintery and precious (with beads and metallics).

Ceci est la première photo typique "commençons au milieu, allons faire la tête de manière complète". Comme d'hab.

C'est un modèle de Joan Elliott, paru dans Crossstitcher de Octobre 2007, et vu la date c'était dans ma liste deepuis un certain temps.

La toile est de l'aida 14 count bleu nuageux. Je ne voulais pas vraiment faire de décos de Noel, vu que j'en ai déjà plein l'arbre, faits il y a 3 ans. Par contre je voulais faire quelque chose "hiver", dans la veine de l'halloween fairy, avec perles et fils métalliques, donc voilà...

Christmas stocking for the ficus tree

DBF just told me "It's only a month before Christmas !!!!" and he bought a Christmas tree (artificial) to decorate it. In the same movement, I also decorated my ficus tree, but it's so happy in my place it's still very leafy and my ornaments seem hidden in the tree !!!

Anyway, I this week end I made this little Mill hill stocking. One more ornament... My next project will be a big Christmas one, as I don't really feel like making ornaments...

For those who knows it, it's Joan Elliott's angel (similar to the Renaissance Lady i already stitched). Blues, purples, metalics and beads....

I know i probably should stitch Cinderella, but I want to try and get in the Christmas mood, and it's a hard task at the moment...

Le petit kit du week end... une botte de Noel.

DBF a dit samedi "Il n'y a qu'un mois avant Noel !!!!" et avec frénésie a acheté un sapin (artificiel) et l'a décoré. En rentrant chez moi, j'ai décoré mon ficus (j'ai retrouvé mes oeuvres perdues dans le déménagement précédent), mais le ficus est tellement content chez moi qu'il est encore très feuillu, et les décos se cachent dans l'arbre.

Maintenant je vais m'attaquer à un grand projet de Noel, un ange de Joan Elliott (bleus, mauves, perles, métalliques...). Je pourrais continuer Cendrillon, mais j'ai besoin d'essayer de me motiver pour Noel, car je suis loin du compte...

Look what's back?

Long time no see... I looked in the archives, and the last update was January 12... and there is no much difference yet !

I guess that if I keep stitching from time to time, it will be finished eventually?

Winter comes early?

I was very well inspired to slip this little Mill Hill ornament kit in my traveling bag this weekend, because I was totally hooked, and not only did I stitch only that, but I stitched more than usual !

At the beginning of the week end it was only some white threads in the middle of the body, and a day and a half later, it was a full snowman witht the trimmings !

Even worse, I started a new Mill Hill christmas ornament, a little stocking.

So why the sudden passion? I think I enjoyed beading so much on the Halloween fairy I didn't want to stop...

J'ai été bien inspirée de glisser ce petit kit Mill Hill dans mon sac de voyage... car non seulement je n'ai brodé que ça, mais j'ai aussi brodé plus que d'habitude.

Au début du week end, ce n'était que quelques lignes de blanc, et un jour et demie après, c'était un bonhomme de neige avec son chapeau et un bonhomm een pain d'épices !!!

Et même pire, en rentrant je me suis précipitée sur un autre kit, une petite botte de Noel.

Alors, pourquoi cette passion subite? Je crois que j'ai tellement adoré faire les perles avec la fée Halloween que je ne peux plus m'arrêter...

Now with frame !!!

Yes, it's already framed, and displayed on the dvd/crafty bits shelves in the living room. It's next to the tv, in front of me when i stitch, so it's under my eyes all the time.

Of course, I expect DBF to put it somewhere else as soon as he comes back to put his PS3, but still...

Even the frame has a story. I stitched a husky dog head for my brother a few years back. Of course I didn't think of the guy factor when choosing the frame, so I got the frame back, and Mom put the dog in a more plain frame.

I didn't mind, knowing that I could use the frame for something else and... voila !

It's gold and darker area. I'm not a fan of golden frames, but the fairy is shimmering already, and the dark in the frame reminds me of the dark in the picture.

Some people asked me what I'm stitching now, well... "Welcome to the nuthouse", and I dug up cinderella as well... I need to progress big projects from time to time....

I noticed a new feature from blogspot: "followers". And I already have 4 of them even before adding the widget to the sidebar !!! How did you become a follower without this link???

I would also like to welcome the new visitors, I see a few commented today, and I can say I'm over the moon !!!

Well, time to go and stitch a little bit... Of course I have to do a bit of cleaning and packing as tomorrow is back onthe road to DBF's....

Hé oui, aussitôt fini, aussitôt encadré ! Bon, le destin m'a un peu aidée... Il y a quelques années, j'ai brodé un husky pour mon frère. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas pris en compte ses gouts et sa déco intérieure dans le choix du cadre.

Si bien que ma mère l'a changé, et m'a donné le cadre. ce qui tombe bien vu qu'il convient parfaitement à la fée, non seulement au niveau des dimensions, mais aussi dans le style et le fait que c'est doré/marron foncé, ce qui rappelle le dessin !!!!

Pour l'instant, le cadre et posé sur la bibliothèque dvd/craft à coté de la télé, il est sous mes yeux quand je brode. Evidemment, DBF le changera surement de place la prochaine fois qu'il vient, vu qu'il doit trouver où poser sa PS3....

A la question "mais que broder maintenant?", je vais répondre "Welcome to the nuthouse", et je vais aussi ressortir Cendrillon. Il faut bien avancer les gros projets parfois...

J'ai remarqué de nouvelles options de blogspot, comme les "abonnés", si bien que j'ai mis ce widget sur la gauche.

Enfin, bienvenue aux nouveaux, qui ont commenté d'ailleurs aujourd'hui, je suis aux anges !

Bon, c'est pas tout ça, mais je dois quand même broder un peu, et aussi ranger et enpaqueter pour le week end, car demain, à moi la route vers la France à nouveau....

Halloween Fairy finally finished !!!

it should have been a great day : after so many hours of intense stitching, with metallics (my least favourites) and beads (they are ok), the halloween Fairy is finally complete.

But life isn't so fun, as as DBF had to go home, and I've just been told that the sale of my Harlow house is no longer proceeding due to the buyer being unable to have a mortgage.

Add to that the fact that I have to go back to work after a few great days off, and the weather is not really great either...

So it's hard to join in the US joy (unless your candidate didn't win of course, they tend to forget about those in the news ;), and to concentrate on the fact that the week end will be there soon, and I will see DBF again.

On the stitching piece over here... Well, I have mixed feelings.

First, the colours. The very dark crosses flirt with the very light and shiny beads, and the overall piece is very very shiny. Too shiny? That's something no picture can really show....

Then of course, I finished it late. Do I frame it straight away and display it on the wall despite the fact that halloween is now long gone?

Here Halloween was quasi inexistent, no trick or treaters, and the shops are now ready for St Nicolas, so it's chocolate and toys all over... there is no patterns for that occasion?

Ca devrait être un grand jour: la fin, enfin, de l'Halloween fairy !!! Après des heures d'efforts, surtout à me battre avec les fils métalliques (les kreiniks ca va, mais j'ai un DMC dans le lot, et c'est moins glorieux), et à faire les perles... tada ! j'ai même réussi à défroisser la toile !

Mais voilà, hier non seulement DBF a du rentrer dans ses pénates après ses vacances (et quelques jours pour moi aussi), et la mauvaise nouvelle que ma maison d'Harlow ne se vend plus car l'acheteur n'a pas eu son emprunt. L'histoire de la crise...

Sinon, je suis un peu partagée à propos de l'Halloween Fairy. Ma première réaction est "qu'est ce que ça blinque !!!"

Il y a plus de métallique et de perles, très brillants et de couleurs vives, qui contrastent avec les couleurs très sombres du fil normal.... Cela ne ferait-il pas un peu... pacotille? Evidemment aucune photo ne semble retranscrire ceci.

Et puis comme j'ai fini franchement après Halloween, est-ce que je vais l'encadrer et la mettre au mur maintenant pour toute l'année, ou attendre?

Il faut dire qu'ici Halloween était quasi inexistantà part les décos dans les magasins, et que St Nicolas et ses chocolats et jouets sont à l'honneur déjà. Il n'y a pas de modèles pour cette fête?
