Am I too early?

Look what I decided to work on... Yes, Joan Elliott's Easter bunny from US CrossStitcher. I started it about 2 years ago?

This might seem a bit early to work on, especially with all the snow and frost we are having, but this is a big project, so I don't think I will be finished before Easter !

I seem to survive the new polar winter, but I caught a big cold, so no fun !!!

Ca peut paraitre bizarre, mais j'ai décidé de broder ce lapin de Paques. C'est encore un Joan Elliott, paru il y a quelques années dans le CrossStitcher américain.

Comme c'est un grand projet, et que je l'ai déjà commencé il y a environ 2 ans, je ne pense pas finir avant paques.

Jai l'air de survivre dans la neige et la glace, mais j'ai attrapé un gros rhume, pas cool !

Hello Kitty fraise

You are all very good at guessing: the puppy is indeed fake. Think of the advantages: no feeding, no walking, no mess... ;)

Here those sleeping animals were the rage for Christmas. It's people in the Christmas village in the mall that sold those cats and dogs, and they must have sold loads and loads. My mom bought 3, and we got a cat for DBF's mom, so multiply by all the families...

Now I'm back to work and in the cold and snow... -15c, I've never experienced that !!! The water in the car screen washing system is frozen, and it's hard to drive ;)

But here is a little Strawberry Hello Kitty. Pattern can be found here. I modified the ears so they look a little bit more cat like. it's still in Perlé 8 and hook 1mm.

I ordered threads from Sew and So, we'll see how long it will take, and how big the package will be !!!

Vous êtes tous très perspicaces: le petit chiot est en effet faux. Ces chats et chiens endormis étaient l'attraction de Noel, rien que ma mère en a acheté 3, et on a acheté un chat pour la mère de DBF. Ils sont tellement réalistes, et en plus pas de problème de nourriture, promenade, etc...

Et maintenant je suis de retour au travail et dans la neige et le gel. -15c, je n'ai jamais connu ça ! Le liquide du lave glace de la voiture est gelé !!!

Sinon, voici un petit Hello Kitty fraise dont le modèle est ici, et qui est encore une fois réalisé en Perlé 8 et crochet 1mm. J'ai modifié les oreilles pour qu'elles soient un peu plus "chat".

Little bear....

First, thank you all for your New year's wishes !
Today is the last holiday day, tomorrow is back to driving and more driving, and a bit of work in the middle ;)

I made a little bear, and it ended up with a cheeky air of "Brother bear" little cub, so DBF likes it. It's still 4cm (1.5 inch), I think it's a nice size. I won't be invaded by them ;)

You will ask, "Where is mini-DBF?" Well, this is a sore spot.... On Friday I wanted to go to a nice LNS named K'thylda (center of Lille). Of course it was only opened in the afternoon (post-New Year change) and so we had to spend like 3h in town waiting for it to open. Luckily Lille is a great shopping spot, I was able to buy books, and we spent some time in a nice café (sort of intellectual, with rock music channel and magazines to read such as "Science et Vie").

But when I finally got to K'thylda, I was very disappointed to see they have no Perlé of any kind, and virtually no yarn. I tried my chance in "Loisirs et Création", no luck either. For once I tried to buy local, but as you can see, I will have to buy from old faithful Sew and So online, in the UK.

In time like these I regret England and Hobbycraft....

Now a funny picture: the bear and.... is it a real puppy? You tell me....

Tout d'abord, merci pour vos bons voeux. C'est le dernier jour des vacances, et il est difficile de croire que dès demain c'est le retour à la route et encore de la route, avec quand même du boulot au milieu ;)

J'ai fait un petit ourson de 4cm, et je suis contente car il a l'air coquin du petit ours de "Frère des ours". Et c'est pour ça que DBF l'aime bien aussi.

Vous allez me demander "Où est mini-DBF?" C'est un point un peu douloureux.... Vendredi j'ai voulu aller à K'thylda (centre de Lille) pour acheter du fil (j'ai pas les bonnes couleurs) et au départ, on trouve porte close car ça ouvre à 14h30 (normal un 2 janvier, encore heureux que c'était pas jourd'inventaire !). On attend donc 3 heures au Furet du Nord (où j'ai quand même acheté des livres) et dans un café sympa un peu intello (chaine musicale rock et magazines comme "Science et Vie"). Au retour, pas de fils Perlé chez K'thylda. Je tente ma chance à Loisirs et Creation, sans espoir...

Donc je vais devoir commander sur internet chez Sew and So, en Angleterre, alors que je voulais acheter localement. Tant pis pour eux. C'est dans des moments comme ça que je regrette Hobbycraft.

Et maintenant, un petit jeu: sur la photo, le chiot est-il vrai ou pas?

And now... famous critters !!!

I decided to make a little Yoda (3cm/1inch), and not only I was happy with the result, but so was DBF, who asked for an amigurumi Maya (the bee, famous cartoon from the 80ies, I know French and Spanish people know her).

So I tool my 1mm hook again and made a 1.5 inch (4cm) Maya, with wings and all. It's the first time I try to make hair on a crochet character, and it's ok for this one.

Now DBF wants a mini himself, but I first have to get the proper colour threads. I use Anchor Perle 8 (12 for Yoda's body) and I don't really know where to find them. I hope to find some in K'thylda today. I didn't get any crafty gifts, but I got the money for them ;)

It's funny to see that some of you prefered the bunny, and others the kitty. After all, they are very different styles, so.... it's all logical.

For those of you who are afraid to start your own... You just have to start from the begining ! There was a time I thought crocheting in round was mission impossible, but now it's piece of cake ! Start with yarn and a 4mm hook, and you'll make cuddly friends !

oh, and before I forget again... Happy New Year to you all !!!!

Au départ, je voulais faire un petit Yoda (3cm) et je dois avouer que je suis satisfaite du résultat. Et pas que moi, DBF a trouvé ça si super qu'il a voulu que je fasse une petite Maya l'abeille (4cm), donc j'ai essayé, avec les ailes et pour la première fois, des cheveux !

Et maintenant DBF veut un mini-lui, mais je manque de couleur de fil.... j'espère en trouver à K'thylda aujourd'hui, car c'est dur à trouver, des pelotes de Perle 8 (et 12 pour le corps de Yoda). Je n'ai pas eu de cadeaux de crafts, mais j'ai eu des sous pour, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire... ;)

C'est drole de voir que chacun de vous a son préféré, lapin ou chaton... il faut dire que leurs styles sont tellement différents qu'il y en a pour tous les gouts !

Pour celles qui n'osent pas se lancer.... Sachez qu'il fut un temps ou il me semblait impossible de crocheter en rond... donc il faut de la pratique, et commencez avec de la laine et un crochet 4 !

And now for something different...

I felt cmpelled to make those two critters. And they are small indeed ! The mictures are life size !

If the rabbit is coming from a book, the sort of kitty/bear is pure amigurumi. They have charms ties at the top so they can dangle from everywhere...

The rabbit is a gift, but the kitty is already dangling from the pouch of my PSP !

Can't say I'm stitching or crafting a lot, after all, it's the holidays, I'm just chillin' ;)

Jai eu envie de faire des bonshommes en crochet, et ces deux petits sont arrivés. Vraiment petits vu que les photos sur taille réelle !!!

Si le lapin vient d'un bouquin, le chat/ourson est pur amigurumi. Ils ont tous les deux des attaches à charm de portable sur la tête pour s'accrocher partout.

Le lapin est un cadeau, mais le chaton est déjà accroché à la pochette de ma PSP !

Vous l'avez deviné, je ne bricole pas beaucoup, mais après tout, c'est les vacances, il faut se relaxer !!!

Finally finished !!!!

This was long and painful.... But I finally finished the backstitching and beads of the winter angel. Click on the picture to see the details....

So after days of grey lines, I might start "Needlework shop" from Country Cottage Needlework. I like the cartoonesque look the backstitching gives to the project, but it's so loooong !!!

The bads were fun, and I added a snowflake at the back to equilibrate. I obviously left out a lot of the snowflakes, the picture is already very blinky !

Enfin fini ! on peut dire que ça a été long et fastidieux de faire tant de points arrières en gris, même si j'aime le look cartoon que ça donne.

Les perles étaient fun à faire, j'ai fait un flocon à l'arrière pour équilibrer, mais je n'ai pas fait tous les flocons car ça blinque déjà pas mal comme ça !

Maintenant, je vais surement me mettre à "Needlework shop" de Country Cottage Needlework.

I'm on holidays, so busy, and the stitching isn't going fast.... But I finished the stitches, and I'm in the middle of the beads. That's something !!!!

Je suis en vacances, et donc la broderie n'avance pas trop, mais j'ai quand même fini les points de croix, et je suis dans les perles ! C'est déjà quelque chose !!!

Angel update

It's about time I show you a picture of the angel, isn't it? This is a photograph, not a scan, so it's a bit dark, but at least you can see the cloudy fabric between the creases.

All those creases seem awful, but I manage to get them off each time, so... It's just that anyway I don't use a hoop, so...

I just have a few ribbons to do, plus the white fur. But after the cross stitches, the beads will come, and the backstitching... It will take time, and that's why I didn't take a similat big project with me.

Life wise, I still haven't realised I'm on holidays as it's just a normal week end so far, so I enjoy it a lot !

Yesterday I nearly did everything I like, from stitching, crocheting, and playing video games (plus reading). DBF and I thought that if "Ground Dog Day" happened to us, it should be that day ;) (for those who don't know that classic movie, the hero relives the same day again and again...)

Il est largement temps de montrer l'état de l'ange. Ceci est une photographie, si bien que cest un peu sombre (la faute au temps) mais on voit l'aspect nuageux du tissu entre les plis.

He oui, je n'utilise pas de tambour, donc il y a des plis, mais en général j'arrive a bien les enlever...

Il manque encore des rubans et la fourrure du bas en point de croix, et après ce sera les perles et le point arrière. Encore du boulot en perspective, et c'est pour ça que je n'ai pas emporté de projet similaire à commencer en vacances.

Au niveau général, je n'ai pas encore réalisé que j'étais en vacances, car pour l'instant c'est un peu week end normal. Quoique hier j'ai réussi à faire presque tout ce que j'aimais faire, de broderie à crochet en passant par les jeux videos et la lecture. Avec DBF on s'est dit que si on devait faire "Le jour de la marmotte", ce serait le jour idéal (pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas ce grand classique, c'est un film où le héro revit toujours la même journée).

Doily number 2....

This is my other grandma's doily, so each grandma will receive one for Christmas. My doilies are in high demand, now I will have to make small ones for Mom.

Life is a bit ectic, so blogging has been very sporadic !!!! I arrived safe and sound in France yesterday, with a bag full of potential crafting. I have 2 weeks to rest and craft, so... it will be nice.

The first mission will be to finish Winter Angel, and you will see tomorrow I'm not far from it...

Voici le deuxième napperon, pour que chaque grand mère ait le sien pour Noel. Apparemment mes napperons sont en demande vu que maintenant je dois en faire des petits pour ma mère !

Ces derniers temps ont été chaotiques, et forcément j'ai été une mauvaise bloggeuse. Mais là je suis arrivée sans encombres en France pour 2 semaines de farniente, pour repos et crafts !!!

La priorité est l'ange, et donc vous verrez demain que je ne suis pas trop loin de la fin...

Crochet ornies

Last Monday I realised I forgot to take pictures of the angel and the heart I made last week end. but here they are !

On Tuesday I just realised Chistmas coming soon, and I only have one week before Christmas holidays, so it cheered me up little bit in the middle of this depressing time. You might have noticed I'm not going to Montreal this side of the New Year as well, so we have to keep cool ;)

I'm in the last "row" of the second grandma doily, so a picture will come soon I guess. I still like to make these lacey things, but I don't like to put them in my house. But others do, so I'm saved.

The winter angel is progressing as well, but I forgot one of the blues at home, I can't believe it when I have a special thread box for the project ! I'm already thinking of what I should stitch next, especially as I will be at DBF's for Christmas, so I have to pack crafting things ! At least this time I drive, so I can fill my car with stuff !

Lundi dernier je me suis rendue compte que j'avais oublié de photographier l'ange et le coeur en crochet que j'avais fait ce weekend=là. Donc les voilà.

Mardi je me suis rendue compte que Noel approchait à grands pas, et que dans une semaine, c'étais les vacances de Noel, et évidemment ça me donne du baume au coeur dans cette période dépressive. Et vous avez surement remarqué que je ne vais plus à Montreal cette année, et c'est pas plus mal.

J'ai presque fini le deuxième napperon de grandmère, et l'ange continue tranquillement. Heureusement que jai des gens qui aiment mes napperons, car si j'aime les faire, je n'aime pas les mettre chez moi ;)

Pink canary, même avec du Thread Heaven, les métalliques de DMC ne marchent pas terrible avec moi... ça s'abime !!!

NathDMC, je n'aime pas non plus le shopping, surtout en ce moment où les gens ont l'air de vouloir dévaliser les magasins !!!

Je suis déjà entrain de penser à ce que je vais broder après l'ange, car dans une semaine, je serai pour 15 jours chez DBF, et donc je dois avoir mes affaires avec moi ! Heureusement que cette année c'est la voiture qui porte ;)
